Yeah, this is what I've been saying since yesterday. If Diaz is to get beaten-up, why not make the most of it, right?

But on a side note, JMM will only say, why would I pay that much for a tune-up? Or probably its like a sparring session w/o protective gears.

I like diaz .... but hes only really worth $30-50k ...and after taxes and all the fees he'll be left with 10-15 at most...

he should take it. He has the chance to upset a top p4p and lineal LW champ

cuz his logic isnt there. when he fought Morales, he was a beltholder, and considered at least a top 10 lightweight. he's been exposed since, and he is not worth much money. It's a tuneup. should he get paid, yes; but he's like too many other boxers who outhink themsleves out of a payday bc they think theyre worth more then they really are

David Diaz is complaining about a fight with Juan Manuel Marquez? What is wrong with these fighters?

Diaz talks about the Morales fight, well he isn't anywhere near in the same position he was then.

As the lesser name in the equation, you can't be picky. Just take the fight. If you win, then you become the straw stirring the drink next time around. Diaz is being ****** here. Not likely he would win anyway, but as a tuneup opponent, at least he knows JMM might not be at his absolute best. Just fight, don't complain.

I agree completely but too many fighters overestimate their worth and really hurt their career. Winky Wright's career never came back to what it was when he turned down the 5 mil purse for the Taylor rematch. He was a top 5 lb for lb. fought a past his prime Ike Quartey, got out-boxed by Hopkins the followin year at 170 lbs - way above his best weight - and then waited another 2 yrs bf gettin whooped by Paul Williams.
Now Bradley is makin the same mistake - turnin down a career high purse and opportunity to become a superstar - with a huge fight against Khan - who offered even more than he could've considerin Bradley cant draw flies to ****.
and now Diaz is jus the latest example of a fighter turning down a good opp to make money bc hes overestimatin his worth

Peterson also turning down 300k to fight Khan, and then having to settle on a Cayo fight for 30K.
Juan Ma losing to Salido and missing out his shot with Gamboa
Rahman turning down 17 million from Hbo

I wish these fighters would know when and when they are not in a position to negotiate.
