Comments Thread For: Jorge Linares Stops Adrian Verdugo in Seven Rounds

At the Mazatlan Convention Center in Mazatlan, former two division champion Jorge Linares (31-1, 19 KOs) stopped Adrian Verdugo (18-5-1, 15 KOs) in the seventh round of a lightweight bout. Linares make it four in a row since the shocking first round drilling at the hands of Mexico's Juan Carlos Salgado in 2009. Linares came back well, winning bouts over Francisco Lorenzo, Rocky Juarez and recently dominating former champion Jesus Chavez.

My boy Jorge is back in form. I don't want him to jump too fast to fighting elite opposition but man, Robert Guerrero is looking good right now.

    Jorge Linares vs Robert Guerrero

    make it happen.

Not sure if Linares has it any more but it would be cool to see him in a title situation again.

I'm a pretty big Linares supporter, but I'm not so sure about this guy anymore. While he has incredible skill and has shown brilliance in the ring, it might be too little too late.

While he's only 25 years old with only one loss, that loss could say a lot. It's hard to determine whether or not he's a punchers dream opponent. I need to see him in there with someone who has some pop. Otherwise, we might never know until another shocker occurs.

Just downloaded and watched the fight.

Linares did not look good at all, accuracy was lacking, Verdugo was there to be taken out from the start. He made Jorge miss with very little head movement. I think as a whole...it was an off night, he even got winded early. He's clearly much better than that, had Rios, Soto, Vazquez been infront of him, he would have been beaten. Then again, that might not be fair to say because it's hard to get up for a guy like Verdugo.

The stoppage was pathetic, Soto was commentating and he caught something pretty interesting, saying Linares puts his guard down after throwing combinations which I noticed. Then again, Verdugo was infront of him, not an elite guy.
