Hillsborough Leisure Centre, Sheffield, Yorkshire - Jamie McDonnell (17-2-1, 7KOs) retained his Commonwealth bantamweight title with a tough decision over Nick Otieno (21-7, 9KOs). The judges scored it 120-108 twice and 118-111 in the British boxer's favor. There was a lot of action, with the Kenyan boxer taking the fight McDonnell, who took control with the jab. By the midway point, rights hands were hitting heavy to Otieno's head and body. In the final two rounds, McDonnell appeared to be going for a knockout but the very durable Otieno hung in there.
