well if you were all heart like gatti, you would keep coming... but also keep getting your ass beat as well
id say intellingence.
but speed if it came out to physical traits... i dont need to hit real hard, just fast enough to get your attention and keep you from wanting to try to hit meComment

Easily intelligence and I don't even think it's close.Hopkins has shown if you have everything else down to a science nobody can just dominate you. In his prime he had good speed and decent power, but with his intelligence it made him an ATG fighter. and a p4p fighter for over 10 years.Comment

well, floyd had the ring intellignce but he's the only fihter who has been called a coward because he refuses to take on challenges.....balls first, then everything else comes second....well if you were all heart like gatti, you would keep coming... but also keep getting your ass beat as well
id say intellingence.

Intelligence is what I chose, true boxing is a chess match, figuring out your opponents next move, while being many moves ahead. but if you had an "other" option I would choose "TIMING" because you can have all the power and speed, but being able to precisely time your shots will make those two traits even more effectiveComment

Depends, if by speed u mean FASTEST GUY AROUND, than I would pick speed. But if ur just saying I'm fast than, that's dumb.
And speaking of dumb... If I choose speed, does that mean I have absolutely NO POWER and NO ITELLEGENCE? Or do I get to basically be me, with more speed?Comment

Not always but power is the great equalizer if i had to pick one trait it would be power, and believe me Hopkins hits hard problem is guys can see his punches coming now.Of course intelligence and speed are very important i am not denying that.Comment

you would take the balls because you lack em, and you wanna see what its like having some.
only person refusing anything is your idolComment

If he hits hard, he wouldn't have around 50% of knockouts, top it off most of the big wins are against smaller men.
What about Willie Pep?Comment

Power:
George Foreman
Felix Trinidad
Roberto Duran
Michael Carbajal
Marvin Hagler
Vic Darchinyan
Giovani Segura
Brandon Rios
Thomas Hearns
Salvador Sanchez
Wilfredo Gomez
Wilfred Benitez
Alexis Arguello
I think I should pull more names who built their career based on power alone.
These fighters built their careers based mostly on relying on power. I think power is the great equalizer.
Paulie Malignaggi vs Miguel Cotto is a perfect example of one fighter having intelligence and speed vs one fighter having intelligence and power. Cotto won that power wins.
Then again,
Sugar Ray Leonard vs Roberto Duran/Marvin Hagler is a perfect example of one fighter having intelligence and speed vs one fighter having power. Leonard won over them.
Well, I still think power is the greatest equalizer. So, those fighters who rely on intelligence and speed winning over numerous hard power punchers deserve respect and high accolades. I guess I can see where some experts say Sugar Ray Leonard is one of the all time great fighters.Comment
