JMM needs to stay in touch with the weight otherwise he will be giving away too much strength and the more he trys to match strength the slower he will be , thats why Roach says no CW no fight .

Its not about the weight on the night in this fight , its about your camp training weight to make the CW ,, at 135 JMM will train at a lower weight right through camp , this makes less muscle mass and more speed , at a forced 144 CW JMM must train at a higher weight to match the strength difference the CW allows Pac to train at a higher weight , the catch is JMM wll lose speed ,,,,, That is why Roach wants the CW , to take just a little speed away from a counter puncher and thats his A game out the window ..

ASK YOURSELF WHY ROACH WANTS THESE CWs SO BAD OR NO FIGHT , THEY MATTER A LOT .
it wasn't pac's team that asked for the catchweight dip****. It's just marquez getting revenge for cotto who only lost to manny because he was drained of that 1 lb. Manny's about to get a taste of his own medicine.

Finally someone that really understand this. That's what I've been saying in other threads, not because they weight the same on fight night they have the same body composition.

Pacquiao weighting 145 pounds and being a WW for some time is used to train to make 145. He's able to pack on some more muscle mass and he's stronger than JMM.

Marquez trains to be 135 for the weight in, that means that he can't get much more muscle mass because then he wouldn't be able to make the 135 weight.

So now the fight is at 144 CW. Yeah yeah right now they're the same at fight night, but Pacquiao has more muscle mass than JMM and has retained speed because his body is used to fight at 144.
Now, if JMM does his same training regime, he's going to weight almost the same as Pacquiao on fight night, however he's giving too much strenght advantage to Manny, so he NEEDS to gain more muscle mass and be a little heavier in order to match Manny's strenght. However, he's going to lose some speed, and that's what Manny is counting on. It would be a completely different story if JMM would've fought at WW for the last lets say 3 or 4 fights. In that case he would have more muscle mass and strenght, and he would be a little bit slower than in LW, but way faster than right now that he's trying to get to a 144 limit because his body would be used to carry all that weight and he could train for speed. Right now he can't really train for a lot of speed, he needs to be stronger or he wouldn't be able to hurt Manny at 144.

So then you want no catchweight? 147 was fine with you?

Funny how you don't say that about Manny in that he can't make 147 nor 150, in his previous fights, so Manny needs to add weight but at the same time lose some speed, which is his advantage.

Manny has been doing it for about 5 fights now ..... but I'm sure you complained more about Cotto coming down 1lb than poor Manny needing to do what you just said about Marquez ......... Marquez has to do for his 2nd time BUT now you have a concern.

Maybe Marquez can learn from his first time on how to train properly. He sure has lots of time to do it.

Also, Marquez should be picking a bigger guy for his tune-up fight to show us that he can beat 140+ guys.

Yep thats how it is , but you got to know boxing much deeper than fan level to understand the process in training and effect of weight , Roach is scamming the system ..

This fight could easily be made at 140 but Team Pac knows that the closer they get to 135 the harder JMM will be to beat , so they force JMM 9lbs above his sweet spot and 3 lbs below the WW limit to sell it , they are stitching JMM up with this CW concerning these two individual fighters and what we know of them .

If Manny had some honor he would have made the fight at 140 .

                but ontopic..

i think Marquez will be overwhelmed..his shots won't hurt Manny anymore, Manny's felt stronger and seen his share of speed lately too..
