let's put other fighters on the same standard as pac..

The problem is that when fighters exceed our expectations, by achieving extraordinary feats they become victims of their own success. We start to hold them to a higher standard than their peers and expectations become unrealistic.
Look at Manny, he's a little guy who should be bossing SFW but he's now beating the biggest and strongest WWs. In my eyes that's overachieving. I think he's at the limit of what is possible for his size and weight. Can't boxing fans accept that what he is doing is something special. It's not normal for little guys to carry their power up through so many weight classes. Why keep raising the bar for him?Comment

Pacquiao couldnt make SFW now unless he chopped off one of his legs.
He struggled a lot to make 130, and the reason he started jumping weight was not because he wanted 'big challenges', its because he was gaining a lot of weight and had increasing difficulty making weight.Comment

I agree 100%.
People are always finding a way to tear down the top dog.
Fact is, Pacquiao is a very special fighter who has been carrying boxing on his back for the last couple of years. All these people who attempt to discredit him now will miss him and the excitement he brings when he's gone.Comment

oh now 144 is WW no doubt right?? but 146 vs cotto was NOT a WW fight you all said...
they will be weighing the same as they did fight night of their last fight. Only difference is Pac won't have to cut to 130Comment

How about adding the CWs to the other fighters , in other words it would mean something like SM vs Dawson at 168-170 , 2lb in a WW like Cotto has got to be equivalent of around 5 in a LH , and then think LW adding 9 lb to be a 144 WW is really equal to what ?
Then once you do that make the bigger CW-ed man chase you in a 26ft ring with 8oz gloves .
You wanna apply a Pac standard for all , then apply all the Pac conditions he forces opponents to meet to get the fight .Comment

Why can't anyone see that point as you have put it?!!! Even if Pac loses on WW and beyond, your point of him overachieving is an MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT nevertheless....Last edited by fabie; 05-26-2011, 11:18 PM.Comment
