Right now,James Toney isn't making 168 & if he did,he gets the brakes beat of him.Prime Toney vs Ward would have been a close competitive fight because Tony was a beast. But Ward finds ways to win so it would have been Toney's natural talent vs Wards desire 50/50 fight.

what a ridicuous statement. for a number of reasons.

Ward is going to have to do a lot of improving before I believe he would have beaten a prime Toney. However, if Toney came in out of shape and badly unprepared, I can see Ward winning a decision.

Toney right now imo. Jones just had Toney's number. i don't think a prime BHop, Calzaghe, Eubank or Benn would've defeated him.

But if Ward defeats the Super Six winner, defeats Bute, and defeats the top dog at 175...then it'd be a toss up.

If we are talking prime, then Ward hasn't done anywhere near enough to be in a conversation like this. Toney would easily win until Ward proves otherwise with his competition.

Prime Toney destroys Ward, I think alot of Andre ward but I followed James since the 90's and can speak to the fact that he was superior in every way to Ward at the lower weights. No dis to ward I think he is #2 p4p behind Sergio, but Prime Toney was faster slicker more aggressive and had better defense than Ward does at this point.
