    can anyone tell me why???

what makes dawson the man to beat at 175???

why are so many people all on this guys nutsack like he's the second coming and will destroy hopkins???

what has he done? can anyone tell me, because, of all the fights i've seen of his, and following his career, i have yet to see him do anything that warrants him being the top dog, now and then???? anyone??

i hear he's slick, but against who? all i've seen is a regular southpaw that has has his basic southpaw fundamentals down pat, nothing exciting, far from exciting, but nothing new and innovating, nothing great and spectacular......

his best win is against adamek, who was weight drained and was his last fight at 175, adamek since being hydrated has looked really good and is all the way at heavyweight now, so weight had to have been an issue for a guy that is now fighting 25+lbs above where he fought dawson.

but where are these spectacular fights, or long run at holding the title and cleaning out the division???

where are the spectacular knock outs or wins over top quality fighters?? yeah hopkins hasn't had a knockout since DLH ,but he's had exciting fights, almost all of his recent fights he was supposed to lose and he shocked the world, only to have people capitulate on some of them saying his experience was enough for the win, regardless of his conditioning, etc... we have all heard the drivel from people......

i'm just so curious as to why people think dawson is this matrix of boxing that has hopkins and everyones number......???

only to struggle and have boring, less than impressive wins over hopkins scraps...... hopkins was the first and only if im not mistaken to stop glenn johnson......... dawson struggled and i thought lost their first match up then won the boring rematch that basically looked the sme s the first fight just chad avoided exchanges and moved more....

then the tarver fights, what paint drying event those were........ hopkins table scraps again.......

then you look at dawson's status, he doesn't have any following, he has now drawing power, he doesn't have a title...... all he does have is a promise to get a fight with hopkins.......

hopkins is dominant over lefties, has more experience and ring knowledge in his sweat than dawson has in his boxing career, what is dawson going to do to bring to the table that 1) means something to this fight, a title? impressive wins? what? 2) his crowd drawing power, at least now people are going to buy up hopkins tix and ppv's..........

people say hopkins has been avoiding dawson, and i do think there is some truth to that, he's been avoiding him because he's small peanuts with no payday attached and no real monumental achievements attached in beating him, no landmark or anything to make it a legendary match up.....

style wise dawson doesn't bring anything to the table, as far as i can see, that is going to give hopkins trouble.....

he's not going to out work hopkin, he's not going to out slug hopkins, he's not going to walk hopkins down, he doesn't take the lead in any of his fights, he doesn't fight on the inside, and has minimal experience compared to the wealth of experience carried into the ring by hopkins...........

now, i know the fight is more than likely going to happen, it is basically contracted, dawson gets the winner of the hopkins pascal fight, so it's inevitable that it's going to happen.

i just want to know why people think dawson is this world beater that is the MAN TO BEAT at 175, when he's actually done nothing to earn that perception, just because showtime and hbo been trying to hype up this shaw fighter, everyone seems to parrot what they say without opening their eyes and saying, this guy aint on that level, this guys has a hell of a lot of room to grow and improve before he even comes close to all the accolades he's getting now.........

let me konw, school me with facts and data, not some fantasy island type crap, please!!!!!! i'm dying to know!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

He has all the tools to be a great fighter, just look what he did to Adamek

He has no more hunger and no more drive, which is sad to see

Maybe because hopkins didnt want to face him when he was the linear champ at 175?

I mean who else is there to fight. B hop dam sure isnt going to fight Cloud.

he has the shaw curse in that regard....... shaw is the mirage in the boxing world, fighters thnk they're going to get hooked up and taken care of, ie water in the desert and end up eating sand....... ie career is shrouded in obscurity, all the while accumulating debt waiting for a fight.

why not, that guy barely got out of his glenn johnson fight alive...... he was gassed, beaten to the punch, and was tying up as much as possible in the later rounds.......

hopkins takes him out, i think thats why he's not even mentioned by hopkins....

also, no money in it....... hopkins isnt trying to make a name for himself, he's trying to create new records........ and although cloud or dawson would be a part of that, they wouldn't be the names that shne bright like some other fighters out there, the only thing is, the guys that would make good fights are tied up in other stuff at the current moment.....

but this thread is about what makes dawson the man at 175 to beat???? why?

no one???? i like how on the boards here dawson is this world beater, i ask people to explain, because i've explained why i don't think he is, and no one has came through and told me otherwise.......

i'll take it that everyone is now feeling what i have been saying, dawson is not cracked up to what people have made him out to be........

I agree with most of what yopu've said. But Dawson is a quality fighter no doubt, I jus feel he lacks the heart for it that say Froch has. He'll be champion again, maybe even sneak back into the top 10 p4p, but he'll never ever be one of the best, and I dont think he'll go down as anything special

But maybe people are just writing him off after the Pascal fight?

He needs his next 3 fights to be meaningful and win them all, if he loses to Hopkins he'll never live it down same as Pavlik and Pascal
