NFL unlike Boxing strongly considering using WADA testing going forward...

"NFL senior vice president Adolpho Birch confirmed Tuesday the league is considering an outside company to conduct testing. As first reported by The New York Times, one of those potential firms is the World Anti-Doping Agency that handles drug testing for the Olympic games."

If the NFL follows through and commits to using WADA testing going forward, how long will it be before the NSAC follow suit? If the NSAC decides not to adapt blood testing for PED's at the very least for all high profile Championship fights, will it create a black-eye for the sport...

To answer my own question, I say it somewhat creates a black-eye because Boxing had the perfect stage to be the first North American contact sport to start the testing, and Mayweather/Mosley did such. The NSAC outside of it's meeting with Tygart, has yet to make a concerted effort to reform its drug testing. The NFL a Billion Dollar sport recognizes the long term benefit in testing, and protecting it's athletes.

The NSAC seems like it doesn't care as much about the sport or it's fighters, in contrast to revenue it generates.

First of all i didnt see anywhere where it said they are doing Olympic style blood PED testing on all NFL players

The NFL is possibly privately contracting WADA to do their testing....big whoop

Second of all the NSAC is only 1 commision of 50 in the US alone. Do you know how many commisions thier are in the whole world

Get over it, its not happening in boxing and the commision wont just force Pac to take it

In boxing the idea is probably more cataclysmic than it was for baseball at the end of the 90's. The guy who tests and is clean and condemned while those who refuse are praised and hand fed a fabricated legacy.

I wish every sport had it, if I have to pay these mutha****az better show and prove that they are something special while being drug free, in the US it isn't too much to ask.

Black eye or no black eye that still doesn't solve the problem of who is gonna pay for it!

This isn't the first time the NFL has proposed it, but the players' association (like the MLB, NBA, NHL, Boxing, etc) is firmly opposed to invasive blood testing.

            From Jan. 08:
Upshaw: Players to accept urine, not blood, HGH test

PHOENIX -- NFL players will consent to a urine test for human growth hormone once such a test is developed.

Scientists, however, appear to be closer to developing a blood test for HGH, which stimulates growth and cell reproduction in humans.

"We all know there is no reliable test for HGH," Gene Upshaw, executive director of the NFL Players' Association, said Thursday at the union's Super Bowl news conference. "Until a test is developed for HGH, there's really not an awful lot to talk about. And when that test is developed, we really believe it should be a urine test. No one is interested in a blood test. We got a lot of big tough guys, but they don't even like to be pricked on the finger to give blood."

Commissioner Roger Goodell has said repeatedly since taking office just before the 2006 season that the league would implement a test for HGH as soon as one was found.

From Feb. 2010 when the first ban for an athlete using HGH occurred:
"At this point, there's no reason to believe that blood-testing for NFL players will or should be implemented," George Atallah, union assistant executive director of external affairs, told The New York Post. "We should instead focus on preserving the drug-testing policy that we have in place."

Never going to happen, they'll just wait for the HGH urine test to become commercially available.... which is why WADA paid to develop it in the first place.

The NFL Players Union will VIOLENTLY protest blood testing. Both because of dirty players and because of opposition to blood testing period.

If you play in the NFL your going to get tested, and if you think different then your a d@mn fool. I like how you try to downplay the whole issue without addressing my question, and your comments just goes to show the rest of us how ignorant some of you fans can be. The Nevada State Athletic Commission isn't the whole world, and try reading my post before you write some baseless **** because it is the site of the majority high profile fights and is relevant to my thread.

As far a your Pacquiao comment, it's already obvious that he won't take the test because he and Arum don't give a damn about the progression or integrity of the sport. Once some poor bastard gets his skull crushed in the ring by some juicer, then maybe the sport and some of it's ignorant fanboys will wake the FU.
