I love Hopkins. But, I have to say that I'm leaning towards Ward. Ward just has an incredible ability for a young fighter. The ability to adapt mid-fight in a rather seamless fashion.
Hopkins would have to force the action, as he did with Pascal. However, Ward doesn't fight in spurts. He's about as fast with decent pop and he throws more shots and better combinations. He's a more disciplined fighter.
So, it's a tough fight. But, it's a fight that I think Ward wins. Depends on what Hopkins does though, because he's surprised me in the past.Comment

Ward just too fast, too good of a jab(to head and body) that will keep his output up and lead to ultimately outworking BHop. Also Ward has very good and coordinated foot speed/movement, he will get out of dodge before BHop gets a chance to hit him with anything of significance. This is a bad fight for BHop, fighting a younger hungrier version of himself to some extent. It would also be an extremely boring clinchfest at times, and BHop will be forced to initiate and wont be able to use his counter skills. Ward by wide UD, actually not wide because BHop somehow tricks us into giving him rounds. But Ward via decision 115-113Comment

Hopkins does everything Ward does a whole lot better even at age 67 or whatever he is.
Hopkins by clear UDComment

Correct.
Ward is supposed to be a great athlete, and very good from the outside. The thing is, he doesn't fight that much from the outside anymore because he has injury issues with his legs, sort of like Yuri Foreman (and we all know what happened to him against Cotto). Like Yuri, he used to wear that protective thing on his knee for a few fights. Since then, he has gradually fought less and less from the outside, and adopted a grappling inside fighting style.
I don't think this is by choice, to show the audience that he is versatile, I just think he can't move around as much. I say Hopkins picks him apart, with moderate footwork, and a pawing jab to keep him at bay, with Ward chasing him (I.E. see Hopkins-Tarver for example, of course it wouldn't be that dominant but you get my point).Comment

I'll have to agree with you on this one. I love Andre Ward's style as a boxer and he's been growing on me with every fight, but I think Hopkins beats him at this point and people will discredit the win by belittling Andre Ward. "Andre Ward was never a real champion", "He can't win outside of California", "He was protected", etc. Which is all false, I think Ward is the best Super Middleweight and I would favor him against Dirrell, Froch, and Bute.
Strangely I wouldn't be so confident in picking Hopkins over Dirrell, but i'd pick Ward over Dirrell, but Hopkins over Ward. Styles make fights. Then again I wouldn't be surprised to see Ward beating Hopkins, he's 27 but fights like a 37 year old veteran the way he can adapt to fights and you can just hear him thinking in the ring, like he's playing chess.Comment

I think Bernard Hopkins takes this one. Probably an ugly fight but the way Ward fight kind of plays into Hopkins style doesnt it?Comment
