obviously alot of guys have glass jaws or weaker chins but Im talking about when a guy gets older and people start saying it. To me there chin wasnt always weak. To me they just have lower punch resistance with age.
You hear that alot now about a guy like RJ. People saying he always had a weak chin but his skills & reflexes were good enough to hide it. I disagree. 1st off I still think the move up to HW & back down in his next fight ruined him. I always said that the Tarver fight was fine but he shouldve never takened a rematch.
You could see in that 1st fight you were different and it wasnt going to get better as time went on. Anyways, guys start stopping him and people talking all this about his weak chin but to me its just a guy getting older & shakier. Look at Hopkins getting dropped twice by Pascal & getting shook in the last fight. Pascal has some pop but it wouldnt have even hurt Hopkins 10 years ago.
I felt the same way about Mosley. We all know that Pac is a Southpaw beast with power but I still dont think that punch wouldve dropped him or those other punches wouldve hurt him every time. He said he's never been hit like that before but alot of that is age. If a prime Forrest hit him with those shots now, he would knock Mosley out.
The last part to it is once you get hurt or KO, its always easier for it to happen again after that. It also plays on guys mind more in the ring. Basically though, I dont think a guy like RJ had a weak chin. I think even if this washed up version of RJ had his chin from 10 years ago then he may still be losing but he wouldnt be getting KTFO!
The Tarver shot was a perfect shot from a Southpaw so that one may have been legit but the rest of them would not have even bothered him 10 years ago. It has nothing to do with him "always having a weak chin" like alot of people try to say. Even regular guys like us. Watch how weaker your chin gets when you start getting older. Things will just start to hurt more
