Comments Thread For: Jo Jo Dan Willing To Face Joel Julio For Ortiz Shot

Boxing manager Chris Ganescu had informed BoxingScene.com that welterweight contender Jo Jo Dan (28-1, 15KOs) is willing to face Joel Julio (37-4, 31KOs) for the right to challenge WBC champion Victor Ortiz. Julio recently returned to 147-pounds and challenged Ortiz during a BoxingScene interview. When Dan heard about Julio's challenge, he advised the Colombian boxer to "wait his turn." At the same time, Dan, who is ranked #4 by the WBC, is willing to give Julio a shot to secure a top five ranking and get close to an Ortiz shot.

Think he's lost his pop at 147 truth be told, his last fight was against a fighter predominantly established at 135 yet he wasn't able to stop him. Also, he's been through some wars. The Angulo beating for instance was particularly severe after the 4th. He boxed well but lost his legs as Angulo closed the distance. Maybe some conditioning would benefit him. Best of luck though. Good division to achieve in if he sticks to it. They'll eventually be a vacuum once Mayweather and Pacquiao retire as well. At a young 26 he's got a lot ahead of him. He should strike early though and take the initiative to fight an up and coming fringe contender.
