Agree 100%. This could have been posted any time after the Johnson loss really. The guy is still rich, still seems to have most of his health and has an incredible legacy up to 2003.... Why go on? -
Roy Jones Jr is a grown American man. If he wants to fight on he is free to do so and NOBODY should be allowed to stop him.
If you disagree then you are a communist who hates America.Comment

While I totally agree, I think the truth is that Roy Jones does not mind getting beaten up/knocked out as much as we mind it for him, and on top of that you have to be honest, he shows no overt signs of brain damage or early pugilistic dementia. He seems to be able to withstand the beatings he takes and recover just fine, in fact well enough to be an HBO announcer.Comment

I find it ironic that Roy in his prime said he would retire young to avoid exactly what he is experiencing now. I truly think that he is only fighting for money and not to further his legacy. He wasn't even in shape for that fight. If so, it was a very winnable fight. I feel bad for him. It has to be money issues.Or it could be the fact he took so much criticism in his prime for not fighting top guys, that now he wants to make up for it. Hopkins isn't making it that much easier for him either. This I fear is going to end up being a boxing tragedy. He should not be allowed another boxing license.Comment

didn't roy jones not long ago say he had some type brain damage he was undergoing treatment for?
yeah he did, google search...
"I started having to work to keep my balance, and I wasn't liking it all," Jones said Wednesday. "So for the last four or five years, I had been looking for something or somebody that could work on reversing the effects that the punches had on my brain."
At the end point of Roy Jones Jr.'s 21-year boxing career that spanned four weight divisions, he took some big hits and suffered two vicious knockouts at the hands of Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson. Now, at age 42, Jones is attempting to fix the damage caused by the punches that caught him in the last couple of years.

I agree, it's very sad to see somebody you loved your entire life in a helpless state... He just doesn't have it.Comment
