By Sean McDaniel: For a lot of people, they see Saturday’s match-up between undefeated British super middleweight champion James DeGale (10-0, 8 KO’s) and challenger George Groves (12-0, 10 KO’s) as being a potentially close contest that can go either way.

But don’t try telling that to DeGale, who sees this fight as just another night at the office and a case where he’ll easily beat the younger Groves.

“An easy night’s work,” said DeGale in an article at the independent.co.uk. “I can’t see it going 12 rounds, seriously. I’m ranked with three of the major organizations so I’m up there in the top 15 of the world.”

DeGale may be right. Groves had problems in a recent fight against Kenny Anderson and was dropped to the canvas in that fight by a big shot from Anderson. Never mind that Groves was able to get up from the knockdown and go on to a stoppage.

Anderson made Groves look bad for enough rounds to where it’s difficult to see Groves beating a much better fighter than Anderson in DeGale. Groves has a lot to prove in this fight after that performance and unfortunately it just doesn’t like Groves has the talent needed to beat DeGale. Groves is a fine fighter but right now, he seems to be lagging behind DeGale a few steps and is going to need more time to develop before he can catch up to him – if that’s even possible.

Groves has been getting 1st class sparring during his training camp for this fight, but there’s only so much good sparring can do for you. You have to possess the talent to begin with for good sparring to really help much.

DeGale would likely beat the guys that Groves has been sparring with, including Andre Dirrell. That’s how good DeGale is right now. He’s a level above Groves and it’s going to take a major performance from Groves to be able to prove boxing fans wrong about him.

It was a close fight, but a fair result imo.
Again you are talkin about what he said. Groves also said he'd knock him out in 4 rounds. Hes now saying he "schooled" him. Neither are true.

Groves didnt back up anything. Except his scared body all night.

C'mon man, it wasnt like that at all. Degale did far, far more **** talk, in fact some of it was **** out of line. If anything, Groves attempts at doing it back were clumsy and awkward.

Groves didnt fight scared either, he took on the role of counter puncher instead of going nuts and having a tear up. He was stood well within punching range for Degale for vast swathes of the fight, but for some inexplicable reason Degale wasnt pulling the trigger.

You write a lot of sense geez(except this issue), but you are starting to sound a bit like a british version of a '*****'. Sort it out.

Well Dirk is definitely right that Groves did not school DeGale.

I think DeGale was getting frustrated by Groves ONLY countering.

I still think DeGale is better than Groves, but he did lose, no matter bow close.

I can't wait to see how DeGale handles his next opponent. He'll be back.

Anybody can win a world title nowadays, especially with Frank Warren backing you. He got Kahn a world title only 2-3 fights after he got ktfo by Prescott. Cleverly is now full champion aswell without fighting anybody of note.

"i didnt really feel like he won" ****.
it was the judges fault. ****.
im moving on to bigger and better things. ****.
if it were him and georgey groves, he would have to win three fights in a row just to be one up and that is unlikely to say the least.
he needs to accept defeat and should not concentrate on getting a rematch as it will not happen.
as gg said, he has beaten him twice so what more do people want?
tight or not an "0" is an "0" so, "i didnt really feel like he won" is pure fantasy.
                CHECK YOURE "0" YOU ****** ****.
YOU LOST,MOVE ON,GO AWAY, MOVE IN WITH THE OTHER ****....AUDLEY HARRISON! YEAH! BECAUSE YOURE HEADING THE SAME WAY BUT, YOURE ATTITUDE AND LACK OF PROFFESIONALISM STINKS!
P.S. IF HE HAD ANY RESPECT FOR GEORGE HE WOULD APOLOGISE FOR HIS ANTICS AND WEIGH IN WITH THE GREEN HE WAS SO BIG ON BETTING.
