You can't really name 5 boxers that have a better resume than B-Hop of this "generation".
    Name them.

I'm just quoting one of the HBO commentators during Pascal-B-Hop when he said Hop is Best defensive fighter of this era.....or something like that

But they do have a point. Winky Wright is not great and will be forgotten. Floyd did not have a great resume to showcase his defensive skills versus Hopkins.

If it was a popularity contest then Oscar would have won. Who was more popular than Oscar for the whole decade that had "boxing in a choke hold"? So it was clearly not a popularity contest.

You can say Pea deserved it, but Pea was only great for half of the decade. Roy was great for a little over half of the decade. Yes both had a case one guy won. So to try and diminish the award by calling it a popularity contest is quite ******ed since the guy who won actually earned it and deserved it. And, the same thing would have been for Whitaker if he would have won it.

You didn't say it but you insinuated that Pac only won it because he it was a "farce and a popularity contest" when he actually won it because he earned it and deserved it.
So no one deserved it except Pac?

Oscar was more popular but he didnt really do anything from 1990-99 to be honest. Wins against some faded legends. Gift decisions, etc. When it comes to recent FOTD voting it will always come down to the more popular fighter.

        Roy and Sweet Pea

        Pac and Floyd

Is that to say Pac has no case? No because that would be ******. Thats just like people who say Floyd had no case.

I think what makes Floyds defense so special is that its a complete defense with different styles infused.

No, each of them can be deserving but Pacquiao deserved it most just like Roy deserved it most in 90s.

And, was Roy really that much more popular than Whitaker? Really?

Of course Floyd and even Hop were in the running. It was a 3 man race and Pac won. And, just because Pac won it doesn't make it a farce and popularity contest. It wouldn't have been a farce if they would have gave it to Floyd or B-Hop either.

What if Floyd won it? What would your opinion be on the award?
