It's pretty sad some you can't give credit when history was just made

frankly I dont see how anyone whatsoever could think that Pascal would have won(unless via robbery) in the rematch, based on the fact that Hopkins dominated him down the stretch despite being caught and dropped twice....If people didnt see how flawed Pascal was before, youd think they would after the Hopkins fight...but people are weird like that.

Dont get me wrong, I give him credit, of course. But to me he already pretty clearly had a win over Pascal, so just getting a similiar win over the same guy isnt a huge bump in legacy to me personally. his overall legacy hasnt changed too much from their first fight, where I already gave him credit for a Pascal win.

I dont like Hopkins. But I have no doubt whatsoever that history is going to be VERY kind to him. And he is the best 40+ fighter of all time as well, only Archie Moore can rival him.

pascal was also the favorite in Vegas and ******** sites. I made a small amount of money picking hopkins to win and that the fight would go the distance.

wow, thats shocking to me. I literally went into this fight rooting for Pascal simply because I thought he was considered a heavy underdog and had little chance to win.

I guess people only looked at his age instead of watching their first fight?

Do you idiots have any idea how difficult it is to do something like that at age 46???? Especially given the fact he doesn't have knock out power?? You haters are probably in your teens and early 20's and have no clue what aging is about and think you'll be in your prime forever. If winning world championships at that age was no big deal it would have happened before, but it hasn't. Not over a hundred years in boxing history. Can you grasp that?

Show some respect to a legend. You don't have to like him, hell you can even hate him, but give credit when it's due.
tried giving you green but said i couldn't, any way, quality post.

those who are disrespectful to hopkins about this fight are not real fans of the sport of boxing and have no concept of reality.....

Alright, I read through every page of this thread and no one else has mentioned this point so I'll have to say it.

I know it's not popular opinion, but I wasn't too impressed by what I say last night.

Sure, athletically speaking, it was awesome, and forget about the baseless PED talks regarding Bhop. He's always been consistently performing at this level.

But, as a historic victory of the oldest champion, it was an ugly, ugly victory.

As time passes, this fight will lose some of the luster of what was accomplished.

Did Hopkins outbox a technically limited Pascal on the outside? Definitely. But every time the fight moved into territory that Pascal excels in, Hopkins held, dove into him, headbutted him, walked him into the ropes, held and punched, every dirty trick in the book. Have you ever heard a ref yells so much and work so hard in a fight.

Honestly, I've hated Hopkins since the Jones 2 fight, for the same reasons. Questionable wins. If the ref took away points for excessive holding, headbutting, and other dirty tactics, Hopkins would have many more loses on his record and saturday would have been one of them.

Hopkins was able to Win clean against Pavlik (and I like him for it), why couldn't he do the same to Jones and Pascal? He always has to resort to dirty fighting when his clean boxing is not on the same level.

I feel bad for George Foreman, who won the title of oldest champion the clean way with a come from behind KO of the champ. Bhop's win is not the same, sorry.

Hopkins certainly deserves his accolades for what he accomplished, but it really doesn't move the needle for me on him.

He was great for all the same reasons before this fight that people are bringing up and Pascal ain't all that for me to really be changing my views on him.

His longevity is nasty though, I really have no issue with how anyone wants to look at him because you can't deny he is amongst the greats.

I think alot of people were trying to give him credit but when people tried to use his accomplishment to **** on other fighters that's when all of this began.

Why can't fans just appreciate a win without talking ****, and then expect no backlash/response?
