Hopkins wants to continue his Canadian tour, don't forget he's 46 years old. You're just giving him a lot of credit right now, unknowingly. A boxer at 46 should have been retired a long time ago. You are asking for this 46 year old man to fight the best one after another. He just went two back to back tough fights with a young top LHW in Jean Pascal, who beat Chad Dawson, yet you want more. Bute, stylistically, looks like a "resting" match, for Hopkins, that says a lot when your soft-touch is an undefeated IBF champion and a top fighter in his division, although still unproven imo, who's 15 years younger than you.

Why would he? Hopkins is in a rare position of not just being on top at the end of his career, but actually looking better than he has for a while. The man has a bit of momentum going. Don't waste it in a snoozer with Dawson. He called it correctly when he said the Canadian fans will probably like to see him fight there again. A Bute matchup can be big for him. Let Dawson rematch Pascal or fight Tavoris Cloud.

Long before the Dawson vs Pascal fight I thought Dawson had the style/skills to beat Hopkins and I still believe that...I think Hopkins would look his age against Dawson just because of STYLES!

Young Hopkins would probably DESTROY Dawson mental and physically but right now...I think Dawson would UD him but just like his fights with Glen Johnson, it would be TOUGH!

But I have a lot of respect for Hopkins, what ever he wants to do it should be RESPECTED, if he wants to fight Bute it is absolutely NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT! It is not like he would be avoiding Dawson for a EASY OPPONENT! Hopkins can just drop those titles and then let Dawson and Cloud fight for them, or let Dawson and Pascal fight for them AGAIN!
