You also need to give Hopkins trainer, NAZ, a lot of credit.
Hopkins was losing the fight early on and was getting off of his game ..... that is, trading big shots with Pascal.
When Hopkins came back to the corner after one of the early rounds (4th or 5th?), NAZ straightened Hopkins out. Hopkins followed NAZ's orders to the tea and the rest is history.Last edited by ADP02; 05-22-2011, 12:28 AM.Comment

It's true that Pascal was rabbit punching & did try ti hit Hopkins with his shoulder, but Hopkins also hit Pascal with rabbit punches, kidney punches(more than what they showed on the replay)threw many low blows & tried to headbutt Pascal a few times, hit Pascal from behind, thumbed Pascal in the eye & they both were holding & hitting...So Hopkins did use more dirty tactics..& the so-called knockdowns were really slips & Hopkins even said so on the post fight interview!! The 2nd one Pascal went down from his swinging his own punch, so that was definitely NOT a knock down..I agree, the ref does suck..But it was a good fight & I'm also happy with the outcome..I disagree that hopkins used "way more dirty tactics" than hopkins. I thought pascal was rabbit punching like crazy and the ref didn't even worn him.
but in the end I'm glad no points were deducted.
I did however think the ref blew a knockdown call or two, especially in the 10th round I thought that was a clear KD.
regardless, happy with the outcome. I just think that ref sucks.Comment

Moore had more skills than Pascal, but had a glass jaw..Out of his 4 looses 3 were by KO & threw out his career suffered 11 knockdowns(5 were in his fight against Holyfield)..Pascal has NEVER been legitimately down..In this fight he was down twice but they were definitely slips, even Hopkins said so after the fight..not surprised by the result at all.
I know I sound like a sour g**** but...gosh, Foreman beating Moorer was such a better fight to be be in the record books...not only the nature of the fight, but Moorer was obviously a much better fighter than Pascal...
ah well, full credit to Hopkins. The man deserves respect period for beating any top fighters at his age.Comment
