They were supposed to fight but Dirrell left super 6 last year because of an unknown injury that he suffered after the Abraham fight.

ward v dirrell was to take place 3rd round but dirrell pulled out. they said before the tourny unless it was ppv or big-big money they wouldn't fight each other and still no word on dirrell

I think that fight should happen down the line but a notable difference in the comparison is that Dirrell and Ward are good friends whereas the opposite could be said for Degale and Groves. Fighting a friend can sometimes foster it's own set of problems in terms of motivation and drive to proceed with the fight. But that's not always the case.

Because it's gonna much bigger after Ward wins the Super 6 and kills Bute. It would have meant a lot less as a Group Stage 3 bout in the Super 6.
