i was amazed at how the ref decided to let constant clinching go on WITHOUT WARNING until the 11th round

clinching as much as wlad did should have meant a point deduction as its illegal and smothered peter so that he was unable to carry out his own gameplan

the ref warned peter over his conduct relatively early on but he committed much less crimes than wlad in that fight

if the bout had been played out fairly i think peter would have been able to get close much more often and probably recorded a KO

Agree totally, to me the clinching did not seem nearly as bad as it was made out to be. the punches behind the head however were blatant.

i think you also have to take into consideration that Sam Peter's complete lack of skill does not make for a graceful display of boxing and footwork. He basically bum rushed wlad wildy any time he wanted to punch, with absloutely no lead or setup. a certain amount of the clinches were peters fault for basically jumping into wlads body or throwing punches that got wrapped around wlads neck, what the hell else was he supposed to do??


really how bad can it be if the guy clinching outpunches his opponent 2-1, at least he was fighting outside the clinches, a little thing we smart people call strategy.

That clinching countered exactly what peter planned to do. ALso when Wlad was huurt or in trouble he was trying to hold on.

Don't even tell me you wouldn't try to clinch like that if it ment A- Winning the fight by taking away that power left hook from peter and B- getting rocked and having that as your only option.

Ruiz is differen't story. He clinches anyone and everyone. Wlad did it because it was part of his plan to nutralize the hook.

I think Ruiz would kiss him before making his face swell with all the clinching. To me clinching 1-5 times a round is cool but when its every other second it's more like a gay hug.
