Nathan Cleverly. The NEW WBO light heavyweight champion. If he beats Kuziemski tonight and retains his belt, then Bernard Hopkins should fight him and go for his title. This is assuming the judges rob B-Hop of his glory this time around.. I suppose it depends if Hopkins is willing to go to the UK to fight Cleverly. I think that fight could get made easily though from Cleverly's side because Calzaghe is one of his idols and I'm sure he'll jump at the chance of a B-Hop bout. It'll be a massive fight in the UK. And yet again, Hopkins will have another shot at being the oldest man to win a world title.. who you got in that fight?
If B-HOP Gets Robbed There's a Back Up Plan and his Name is Nathan Cleverly

Not a fight that will or should happen right now.
Hopkins will be wanting to go after bigger names like probably super 6 guys or bute.
Cleverly is still a very young and inexperianced fighter, the next couple of years will be spent getting him vital rounds under his belt until he is ready to fight the top level elites.Comment

But the fact is he's a world champ now and he's top 5 in the division. He'll need to fight the elites sooner rather than later and why not face B-Hop. Even if he loses, the experience he'll gain from that fight will only make him better. I'm sure Cleverly will want that fight, to try and get the legendary B-Hop name on his record. Plus B-Hop probably hasn't got much time left so now is the time to make that fight. Not a fight that will or should happen right now.

lol.. why not?
If Cleverly beats B-Hop he'll be considered one of the very best in the division, he'll gain instant worldwide fame and significantly increase his paydays.
If Cleverly loses, he'll gain experience from the fight and people will just say that he's young, still got plenty of time to improve and come back stronger.
No shame in losing to B-Hop, so it's a win-win for Cleverly either way. And for B-Hop of course, it means that title and that piece of history as being the oldest to win a world title (or 2 world titles if he beats Pascal.)Comment

Ever heard of Robert Steigletz? what about Dimitry Sartison? Jurgen Brahmer? Lucian Bute? But the fact is he's a world champ now and he's top 5 in the division. like it or not, holding a title doesnt mean you have to fight elitesComment

I know you don't have to, a lot of boxers don't face worthy opposition for a long time, in fact probably the majority of champs. Although I don't agree with it.
But there's that strong Calzaghe connection there that makes a huge difference with Hopkins-Cleverly. They could sell the fight nicely with that alone. It means a big payday for both of them. And it's a win-win for Cleverly because even if he loses, people will just say he's lacking in inexperience, he'll be back on track within a few fights time, while having scooped up a big pay day against B-Hop. Plus, most importantly, he'll have the Hopkins name on his resume, win or lose.
Don't you think the kid wants to look back one day and say he fought Bernard Hopkins? I bet he does.Comment
