Jones vs Tarver I-I picked this as my number one because Jones had a hill he had to climb in a hungry fighter that has been under and following Roy for years. He had to come down and lose 26 pounds of muscle and before he came out to the ring to fight Larry Merchant asked Roy how do you feel. Roy responded on scale of 1-10 he was a seven. If you go back and look at Roy he looks drained. Then at the end of round 10 the fight was dead even and you can tell that Roy was spent. He needed those last two rounds to pull this off and his corner knew and he knew it. He dugged down deep and showed heart and pulled it out. To me what Roy went through this fight will always rank up there with me.
Jones vs Ruiz- How Jones dominated Ruiz I was even surprise. Even when Ruiz hit Jones flush with the right hand that made Jones back up, and Jones came back responded with a right of his own I was just concern can he take a shot from a heavyweight. Him taking the title form Ruiz who was just coming off his trilogy ith Holyfield and to make history from being the only light heavyweight in over 100 years to capture a world title is very significant
Jones vs Griffin II- Redemption. After Griffin flopped and faked like he couldn't continue was garbage. Granted Roy did hit him while he was down but Griffin didn't have to take the title like that. But once the rematch came was the only time I seen anger in Roy's eyes in a fight. And he showed by viciously taking Montell out in the first round.
Jones vs Toney-The hype around this fight was tremendous. You had the two undefeated fighters who were best fighters in the world p4p. Roy who was 26-0 moved up in weight to fight Toney who was 44-0 for the super middleweight title. Roy easily dominated Toney and even dropped him inthe third round. Toney only has been down twice in his career. This win solidified Jones as the best fighter in the world p4p.
Jones vs Lacy- Even though this fight didn't have any signifcance. The majority felt that Roy deteoriated more than Lacy and that Roy may get KO again. After the first round Roy took over and once the fear of getting hit went out the door in Roy's mind we start to see vintage Roy throwing 10 punch combinations ant triple left hooks and his blinding speed was quite there but that night there was no fighter faster than him. Had Lacy hurt on several occasions. The younger fighter who was 8 years his junior could not keep up with the old man. Lacy ends up retiring on the stool. That has to be Roy's greatest performance. That night he turned the clocks back and RJ showed up.
