having said all that he still deserves credit....

but there is one fighter out there i'd like to see cotto fight and i know you are all going to laugh, but i'd like to see him fight vivian harris.......

i'm sure cotto would love to fight him too.............

i was impressed with cotto only against bailey.....but ever since he has been suspect and proven to me that he is only a fringe title holder and worthy of that....

even the abdullaev win to me was ****e!!!...
yes torres was one of the few unknowns who beat unknowns that actually is a top contender.it doent happen often.

and vivian harris...that would fit right in for cotto.

i am one of the few that believe harris ****ed himself up mentally and physically in last fight.would think he learnt from that expierience.

this would be an exciting fight and a measuring stick to see how much skill cotto has imo.

the original talk was about cottos poise and power. he has poise and just normal power, imo after seeing him against corley, abduelav and torres.

man hook him up with an upperclass trainer and this guy could rule some of the belts.

while i'm a big fan of augustus, who is waaaay better than his record suggests, he is'nt a big enough puncher to stop cotto marching forward, plus augustus (damn burton was easier to type)! is a couple of weight divisions north of his best weight imo. cotto would be to big and powerful for him. he would give cotto nightmares for a few rounds, though.

yea, i know what you mean but consider this.emanuels expierience and boxing skills overmatch cottos poise.

e is faster than cotto.and he has a world class chin imo.

cottos power hasnt shined in last few step ups.

split discision or plain out... out pointing cotto isnt out of the reilm.

remember augustus shows up in shape.it would go full term.

Augustus would have a field day with cotto. it's what he haas been waiting for his whole career. he would confuse cotto and has way more experience. i know cotto has a great amateur background...blah blah, but Augustus has fought former world champs, now current world champs, top contenders, top prospects, warriors, etc. you name it he's fought them, plus a lot of time he did it on short notice! if chop chop could stun cotto, Augustus i think could put him away. he knows how to go upstairs and down stairs, which that is where torres failed. had torres gone down stairs in round 2 after having cotto hurt, he would've won, but he was head hunting and i think that it cost him the fight. but that is now old news. Augustus though, has the experience to get the job done. the power of cotto means nothing when it comes to Augustus, we all know he can take a punch, to the head and the body. even getting knocked down by ward he got up to finish the fight in a competitive fashion. cotto doesnt stand a chance against Augustus, even style wise. Augustus has the ability to change his style into whatever needs to be done. his record is ****, but that says nothing about how he fights! i'll take Augustus over cotto, any day. cotto isnt what he's hyped to be.

couldnt of said it better, but with a little less enthusiasm.

if this fight ever happens i hope augustus doesnt get wanked into going to puerto rico.i have no problem with the international judges but that ref in the cotto/corley smelt.
emaneul will need a level playing field to win by points or to carry out a tko.

I still think that Cotto beats Hatton. Hatton doesn't have one-punch power and relies on his accumulation. He also isn't as technically sound as Cotto. I think Cotto can KO him in 6 or 7 before Hatton's accumulation of punches have an adverse effect on him. Cotto came out too aggressive against Chop and Torres and paid for it both times. In more controlled fights (Pinto, Abdullaev) he was able to control the tempo and win those fight with greater ease.

BTW, Torres can punch. I don't think many other 140 pounders, except for maybe Tszyu, can punch harder than Torres.

Also, I think Augustus beats any 140-pounder right now, including Floyd. He took the PBF fight on short notice, while he was smoking weed, and was still the most competitive fight Floyd has ever had (including the JL Castillo fights, IMHO). A well-trained Augustus beats Floyd now, I think. He also makes easy work of Hatton's aggressive style and would UD Cotto.

What questionable tactics? Did you see the fight? The ref ******! Those weren't low blows, they were on the belt. This is the same ref that called two KDs in this fight that were in fact push downs (one for each fighter).

Wrong, he was coming off a fight in PR against a very game Vazquez, a fighter known in PR for his aggressive style. This was being used to set up a fight with Cotto in PR where people would see how aggressive and hard Torres hit and would hype him up. My brother was at this fight and he had commented to me that he was a force but that his D wasn't great and Cotto's superior skills would give him a mid-round KO. Well, he was mostly right.

The guy, while being unknown, had power and speed. This was something Cotto never prepared for as Branco is as slow and underpowered as they get.
