The catch weight which is in some way meant to look like pac is trying to even the playing field is nothing more than a move by Arum to stop de la hoya matching their offer. Nothing more, nothing less.

Pacquaio is the one who made the concession. This way Marquez won't have to worry about what weight Pacquiao will come in at, it will be 144, and it gaurantees there won't be too much of a weight disparity between the fighters. These are the type of fights catchweights are made for.
Right! Pac-Haters are crying their excuse already because Marquez will fight Pac at a catchweight of 144 while they are asking Pac before to fight Martinez at 154?! Ironic huh?! What kind of $tupidity is that?

gbp is in a "damn if you do" and "damn if you don't" situation...gbp can't match the offer of top rank or if they match it, gbp bleeds...their prized fighters are not worth $2M and here comes top rank offering cry-baby-boy marquez a $5M guarantee...

if they will not match it, it would be a slap on their face...or gbp is broke...

if they will match it, they will certainly bleed to death...

            Definitely not the same.

Floyd came 2 lbs over the contract weight with no intension to make the weight and just paid the penalty.

Everybody knew before the fight that Floyd would have a huge size advantage. At least Pac and JMM are almost the same size. JMM and beristain stated that.

JMM knew they didn't look good at that weight against floyd. Yet they begged for the fight. Is that Pac's fault?

              JMM negotiated for 144.

Even if it was a move to stop gbp to match their offer, watch wrong with that?

first of all it was Marquez the wanted the 144lbs catch weight. 2ndly Maquez weighs 145lbs on fight night(yes even when he is fighting at the 135lbs limit he rehydrates to 145 on fight night. Pacquiao also for most of the time weighs in on fight night at 145lbs. so stop with all the talk of the weight advantage for Pacquiao. They wiegh almost exactly the same on fight night.

Its not pacs fault that they asked for the fight. However it is his fault in accepting this fight four years too late.

I never once said that Marquez didn't negotiate for the 144 weight. I'm just pointing out that they only accepted that offer to out do GBP. It wasn't out of the kindness of their hearts lol

After the first fight Pac offered JMM a rematch. But JMM instead chose to fight Chris John in Indonesia for a significantly smaller purse and lost. It took 4 years for JMM to accept the 2nd fight. Nobody blamed JMM.

So what if it took Pac 4 years to accept the 3rd fight?
