For a fighter of his stature (i.e. being virtually unknown) beating the crap out of a faded legend is an easy way to put his name on the map. I bet he'll be paid more for this than he would for any other, more credible opponent he could fight instead. Plus it's something to tell the grandkids, ain't it?
