  • A little Super 6 summary...

    Original participants:

    Arthur Abraham
    Andre Dirrell
    Andre Ward
    Carl Froch
    Jermain Taylor
    Mikkel Kessler

    Arthur Abraham

    Beat Taylor in Germany
    Lost to Dirrell in USA
    Lost to Ward in USA

    Andre Dirrell
    Lost to Froch in England
    Beat Abraham in USA
Fakes neurological injury to quit tournament to avoid facing Andre Ward.

    Andre Ward

    Beats Kessler in USA
Beats Jermain Taylor's soft touch replacement Allan Green in USA
Bizarrely given a pass on his round 3 fight due to Dirrell's fake injury and beats limited Sakio Bika in USA
    Beats Abraham in USA

    Carl Froch

    Beats Dirrell in England
    Loses to Kessler in Denmark
    Beats Abraham in Finland
Scheduled to fight Johnson in USA

    Jermain Taylor

Loses to Abraham in Germany, quits tournament

    Mikkel Kessler

    Loses to Ward in USA
    Beats Froch in Denmark

    Replacements:

Allan Green (brought in as replacement to fight Ward despite better opponents being available):
    Loses to Ward in USA
    Loses to Johnson in USA

Glen Johnson (brought in as Kessler's replacement):
    Beats Green in USA
Scheduled to fight Froch in USA

So as it stands Wards route to the final:

    Kessler (home)
    Green (home)
    Bika (home)
    Abraham (home)

    Froch's route to the final:
    Dirrell (home)
    Kessler (away)
    Abraham (away)
    Johnson (away)

I only give Ward credit for beating Kessler (with a paid off referee).

Why does Andre Ward get so much praise for beating a tomato can replacement in Green, the rules to be broken to allow him to fight tomato can Bika and beating Arthur Abraham coming off back-to-back tournament losses all while fighting every single fight at home?.

Froch has clearly fought the better opponents and will have fought 4 times in the tournament in 4 different countries against the best.

Basically this is a thread to celebrate Froch as the true champion of the tournament because we all know he will get screwed by the Showtime suits even if he knocks Ward out.

How you going to hate on Andre Ward like that? Do you really expect 2 Americans to go over in fight overseas? Should they have fought in Green hometown of Okalahoma? Ward has the bigger fan base so I don't understand why he gets *****'d on for fighting Green in his hometown. Bika is a journeyman who always travels. He was fighting a replacement so why can't somebody who's 2-0 with a solid hometown following get a fight? It's not like any of the fights were hard to score.

Abraham wanted that fight where it was fought as you could tell their were a lot of Armanians in the place. It was neutral. Abraham wasn't complaining so why is everybody else?

Froch couldn't even beat kessler but Ward took it too him and obviously won. Not to mention DIRRELL GOT ROBBED IN FROCH'S HOMETOWN! Where as Ward's easily beating everybody put in front of him.

Their's not point in hating, Froch will have a hard enough time getting past Johnson. Their is no way you can clearly say Froch will easily win this fight. That's ridiculous because Johnson could easily beat him just as well. Froch is going to go thru hell in that one.

We'll see at the end of the year, I think Johnson has a better chance of beating Ward then Froch because I don't think Froch could deal with Ward's boxing ability whereas Johnson has fought almost every style in the book and almost damn near came out on top in all of them. Never got trashed except against Hopkins. He's more accurate then Froch I think which may give him problems I think.

I'm not criticising him for fighting Green at home, i'm criticising the fact that he fought all his fights at home.

The fact that a soft touch was brought in as a replacement for him and the fact that he was somehow allowed a pass on his third round fight to fight someone like Bika.

Abraham would of wanted the fight in his home town, but that wasn't possible because the protected Ward has to have all his fights at home. The fight took place in the USA, the fact that there where more fans there supporting Abraham is irrelevant.

If froch gets past johnson i will be rooting for him to beat ward!
Froch would need to be very careful with andre wards head!
abraham is a small man so i knew ward wouldnt headbutt him cause it would make him ******! froch vs ward is likely to get stopped on bad cuts!

Why is everyone overlooking Johnson? He is a live dog in this tourney, and the fact that his fight with Froch is not in Froch's backyard means the chance of a robbery is greatly reduced. If Glen is the more aggressive pressure fighter he could very well win by decision or (unlikely) stoppage.

Not really overlooking Johnson as such, but i don't read too much into his win over Green to be honest.
