Comments Thread For: Pacquiao-Martinez: Arum Feels Weight Gap is Too Much

Boxing analyst and trainer, Teddy Atlas, would like to see Manny Pacquiao, recognized as the best fighter in boxing, face the challenge of the number two pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, Sergio Martinez. Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, believes the gap in weight is too much to make the fight happen. Pacquiao fights at the welterweight limit of 147-pounds, and Martinez is two divisions above at 160-pounds. A catch-weight of 150-pounds is the highest Pacquiao would go, but even 150 is possibly too low for Martinez to make.

    Pac can beat Martinez
    just doesn't have to
long as Floyd still ducking Pac this is always a last ditch option
Pac can take care of Ortiz and/or Bradley, then fight Martinez

It should read "Pacquiao-Martinez: Arum feels Martinez is a young 36, too skilled, too good".

In other words: Martinez's style, power and speed is something we rather not deal with right now. To contradict ourselves though we will go after a fat bloated JMM who has not proven himself above 135 and we will fight him at 147.

          Exactly.

It has nothing to do with size. Its the power, speed and skill factor. They want nothing to do with it.

Soon as Chavez Jr wins a belt at 160. Arum will send Pac to face him at 160 or a catch weight over 155. GUARANTEED!!
