Anybody else think this fight was a helluva lot closer than the official scores? I mean I thought Ward was by far the more impressive of the two, but round-by-round I thought Abraham did a good job of blocking most of Ward's shots, and that almost every time he let his hands go a few times, he stole a round. I thought Abe clearly won rounds 2, 3, and 12, and that he also somewhat clearly won 1 and 11. I only had Andre winning 115-113. I think some of the judges and sportswriters weren't prepared for Abe to do anything at all in the early rounds and missed the fact that he won the first three.

Abraham fought better than I thought he would, and did a good job of keeping Ward honest for the most part.
Ward took his time, never lost his focus, and once again showed that he can adapt to whatever his opponent brings.

Froch has got a tough job against Johnson. I back him to come through it, but too close to call against Ward. Thats a real 50/50 fight imo.

I gave AA 3 rds. 3 losses in a row is almost a career killer. He is done at 168, losing to the top 3 168 fighters leaves nowhere to go at his age. he can still have a few good match-ups, the Pavlik fight is a money maker and maybe he should fight Andrade.
The sad thing is that AA's style is his own worse enemy. He has an excellent jab, its quick, long, and powerful, but he rarely uses it. He throws great body shots, but he rarely goes to the body. He is afraid to get hit and he is not willing to take one to give one. Unfortunately, he does not have the mentality to change his style, so I do not see him making any extraordinary comebacks. My guess is he will return to Europe and start fighting strictly euro fighters or 2nd string American fighters who have no choice but to go fight in Europe. In Europe, he will rebuild his career (although I mean rebuild in a limited way) this way and become relevant to the boxing public in Europe. By venturing out of Europe he tried, but failed to become a great 168lb fighter.
Although, I am disappointed in the safety 1st way he fought I will give him tremendous credit for keeping his word and staying in and finishing the tournament when so many quit and made excuses ( Kessler, Dirrell)to get out of the Super 6.Last edited by jbp23; 05-15-2011, 07:06 AM.

BTW, Abraham didn't lose three in a row, he beat some bum in his last fight off a fluke knockout.
