Naseem Hamed could've been remembered with the likes of Sanchez and Pepp.

I would say he overrated himself.
He was an incredible natural talent, who although at times looked sloppy and all over the place, he had raw power, speed and was exiting as hell to watch.
(apart from a few borefeasts when he ran out of ideas)
He was great for boxing.
As for the Kelly fight, i thought he was exposed as very undisiplined and careless, but the punch that finished the fight was a really powerful, very short shot to the temple that most boxers couldnt dream of throwing.Comment

Correct. Naseem doesn't have and never had any discipline in him. All he had was raw talent which he abused and used to so much show-boating.Originally posted by Bobby PeruI would say he overrated himself.

Thats the best description of the Prince I have come across.Originally posted by Martin.Hamed was so classy in the ring... It's a shame we never really got to see his true potential. - Reason being, his immaturity!Comment

He was actually very difficult to get out of the gym up until he won the World title, he wanted to be a legend and back in those days he was sometimes known to be back at the gym 20 mins after leaving the gym! But then after winning the World title he changed and went from very over-confident to very, very over-confident and it was then apparently very difficult to actually get Naz in the gym Post-95. But all the hard work for the first few years of his career carried over through to the Tom Johnson fight which was his last decent performance, his best ever performance remains Steve Robinson (when he won the title). But yeah, he didn't train anywhere near as hard when he was World Champion as to when he was an up-and-coming contender. 1994/95 his combination-punching and defence was frightening, but he became more and more reliant on one-punch KO's over time and his defence became less and less sharp over time.Originally posted by Pak menNaseem doesn't have and never had any discipline in him.Comment

That's the point. Discipline is not about one-day trainings. It's an accumulation of devotion to your craft and careful scrutiny of your art.Originally posted by JUYJUYHe was actually very difficult to get out of the gym up until he won the World title, he wanted to be a legend and back in those days he was sometimes known to be back at the gym 20 mins after leaving the gym! In the case of Naseem's craft, he busted it. lol!Comment
