Beats maidana. He has had a great caeer for such a young age. I don't miss any of his fights but the first thing I always think about is how maidana made him quit. If he can revenge that lose and beat maidana he should be the number one name to face pac or may besides each other and martinez. Any thoughts on if ortiz or golden boy will change their minds and make this rematch

I would like to see him fight Maidana again but i disagree with him only being a serious contender to Floyd if he beats him. There are many fighters better than Maidana from 140-147.

Is that gonna give him a better chance at beating Floyd?

Ortiz will always have a black cloud over his career, until he beats Maidana in a rematch, like he could have and should have done the first time around.

There are other better fighters he can beat to get a shot at Floyd, but I'd really like to see a Maidana rematch somewhere in the near future.

Ortiz loses to Maidana in the rematch, Golden Boy won't make that mistake with ortiz again, expect Ortiz to defend against average fighters in his next 2-3 fights (similar to Berto's horrible reign) before facing Floyd, Pacman Khan or Maidana rematch.

Maidana fights at 140 @ he doesn't seem to be moving up at least in the near future and is the complete opposite of floyd so there really aint that much he'd learn in that fight to help him against a superior boxer w/movement and Defense which chino don't do, also i don't think he really wants that fight again he knows what he'll be facing let's not go overboard with this guy i like him but i liked berto a lot less

I don't like this fight at 147 we don't know if Maidana would have that power at welterweight but still Goldenboy should go ahead and make this fight in July so Ortiz is available around September/October for a big fight against May or Pac or Berto or Cotto

I would agree that he does need to settle the score with Maidana at some point preferably before Maidana softens up to much but I do not see any reason for that to a prerequisite to fighting Floyd
