This is when I fell in love with Barrera...

What an amazing fight, I remember being on the edge of my feet and remember thinking..."This guy is the real deal".

The body shot at 7:45 is vicious. Barerra's chin throughout this whole fight is crazy.

McKinney was a tough dude but he ran into a future legend.

Also, Roy Jones Jr is so pro McKinney it's funny. Listen to the commentary by him.

I always liked him but when he fought and spanked Ahmed that took the cake for me…

This was much earlier though, he still wasn't very well known at this point. It was this fight IMO that really put him on the map with mainstream boxing fans.

He always was my favorite of the 3 great Mexicans of that time and weight class. I think he's better than JMM and Morales all time, just my opinion.

I never liked him and never will. **** him.

He totally disrespected Morales' background. He was looking down at him because he was poor and had some Native American blood in him.

You really thought he was better than Morales? I mean I know his wins over him can make a case but the level of competition between them both is still a who’s who debate where one can make a case for Morales too.

He is also a very dirty fighter.

Morales and JMM are class fighters. They don't need to faul to win.

For the record I didn’t like that **** either but his talent in the ring is nothing to sneeze at.

Shut the *** up and get out of my thread, no cowards allowed in here and what happens between Mexicans is their business.

Your mad because he made your boy Naz look like a transvestite and would have knocked out Khan had it not been for that fluke cut.

Like I said, I'm biased but the reason I loved Barrera more is because he went from a brawler early in his career to a great counter puncher and boxer later on which really extended his career.
