So who was the real winner? (includes result)

(apart from me, cos I just picked up £30 of real money and 15 mil in points)

Peter proved he could take a fair pounding for 12 rounds and had heart.

Wlad proved that - even though he got up, so some might claim that that proves he has a chin - he'll go down every single time he gets hit. Silly old ****er.

Fair play though, he won. He held so much even Frank Bruno complained and Ruiz took notes, but fighting scared didn't lose him the fight I guess. Amazing that Peter could make it so close after only winning two rounds.

Watching Wlad is like Russian roulette (no race pun intended)... as soon as something strikes, that's it. Will he be champ one day? Well... probably. His guaranteed opponent now is a man he beat convincingly before, and one with feathers for fists. But with Wlad every single defence will be a pick 'em.

His stamina held out, but when a man has that little punch resistance even a crude club fighter like Peter (and he proved tonight that's exactly what he is, right?) will get around 40% of the forum saying he'll lose.

Did Wlad answer any of your questions tonight? He did mine... though maybe not in the way I'd want.

Oh - before someone dead from the neck up posts something like "yo, yu ****er, Vlad pwned Peters he won the ****in fight" I wasn't dis*****g that Wladimir WON, I was talking metaphorically. As in Peter came out the best (perhaps?) even though he lost, dig?

I think Wlad answered a lot of my questions as well. He really showed his skills tonight. Peter may have been really raw but the man can hit.

Wlad took some good shots and kept coming too. He moved great, and he jabbed great. He had the perfect game plan to beat Peter and stuck to it. He wore out again though in later rounds and almost got caugt.

Good win for WLad. Great chin on Peter too.

Wlad won the fight. He fought a smart fight.

Peter is good, but should have been penalized for punching on the back of the head. If they did that, this would not have been close.

The first 2KDs came from the illegal punches.

Both men "won" tonight...(not talking about the decision of course that is Wlad's)

Wlad proved his heart, better stamina, focus and poise, confidence...

we already knew the skill was there...

Peter proved his heart, determination, rock solid chin vs arguably the best puncher in the division...

we already knew he was one dimensional...

Mostly I agree...but as far as his next fight goes Wlad that is he is now #1 contender in both the WBO and IBF so that means IMO if he goes for the Bryd fight should he win or the Brewster fight should he win then IMO he would be hiding out by not wanting to fight Brewster in a rematch to try to avenge rather than his brother possibly fight more of his battles for him should Vitali beat Rahman....Point being if Wlad has real balls he will not go for the easy target Byrd whom he already beat but he should try to get pay backs on Brewster just for the pride factor.

I'd say, as much as I wanted Peter to win, this loss is better than a win. This proves he has to focus to become chamption, and while Wlad is a harder opponent than most chamions, he should redouble his efforts in training. If he had won, and went on to get a title shot and win, he'd have lost it eventually. Better to lose now, and come back later and dominate.
