Despite suffering the first defeat of his career on April 8th, by way of a seven round TKO at the hands of Marco Antonio Rubio, the current WBC International champion David Lemieux (25-1-0) continues to hold a good position in WBC rankings. For the month of May, Lemieux holds court in the number five spot. He previously held the number two position. The young boxer might possibly return to the ring on July 29th in Quebec City as part of a planned outdoors event. If the July fight falls through, an October date is also being discussed. His chin isn't a problem, it's his ring smarts and experience. If he doesn't learn from this he will be a nobody, if he does he will be a champion someday.Comment

His ability to take punishmnt is OBVIOUSLY a problem. He can dish it out but can't take it it. He was knocked out by a guy who has NEVER knocked out or even beaten for that matter a top fighter....that tells you where Lemieux is.Comment

I really hope David Lemieux the best he is a fan friendly fighter and really good young guy. Boxing would really benefit from him if he can become a Champion.Comment

The problem is that he took that punishment while being exhausted. He tried too hard to KO Rubio early and wasn't smart. Nobody has a good chin when tired.
All he has to learn is to pace himself and not try to KO his opponent with every single punch.Comment

The guy who KO'd him has 43 knockouts, so obviously that was the wrong guy to fight aggressively with no defense. He needs to work on his foot movement, stick and run, and use more of a sniper attack instead of brawling head-on.Comment

Taran, that is where you are wrong. A chin has nothing to do with energy level. His problem is he fought setups and no hopers in his cushy Canada and faced a guy who did something neither he nor his team had planned on - he punched BACK! Lemiuex can in with a fraud record and left that way.Last edited by richardt; 05-12-2011, 02:47 PM.Comment

When guys on Shobox who are 20-0, 18-0, 20-1, 15-0 are fighting guys with the SAME record as themselves, Lemieux was fighting a 7-4 records an 18-19 records. It doesn't take a ***ing genius to see they were protecting him and milking him in Canada.Comment
