I see the same thing happening to Alvarez as what happen with Lemieux, Vazquez Jr, and to a certain extent, Ortiz. They all got beat by savvy veterans who aren't that good per se, but are very experienced and hard hitters!

I don't think Rhodes lands in the category of an ARCE, Maidana, or a Rubio. these are world class fighters...>Rhodes has been hanging around Europe most of his career with little top notch competition.

As for Canelo being compared to a Lemieux, vazquez jr, and ortiz...well they all are different in many ways. Lemieux had little ring experience b/c of his KO ratio...Vazquez jr started boxing too late at the age of 21 and Ortiz has rebounded his career and is now among the elite.

Canelo is one of a kind...You'll see that come fight night. Don't let the red hair and freckles fool you.

I've never seen Rhodes fighting, but I've seen Canelo 6 or 7 times and I can tell you that he hasn't fought any good fighters. Rhodes has power? I don't really know, but remember the last time Canelo fought with Jose Miguel Cotto canelo was in trouble in the first round, I even thought he was going down. The reason why canelo doesn't have a good chin, at least so far, is because he is not used to receive punches from strong fighters, so it's actually unknown what's going to happen in this fight if he gets caught by Rhodes.

Unfortunately I agree, Canelo generates a lot of money specially in Mexico because of Televisa. He appears in TV all the time like he was one of the best mexican fighters of all time and people who don't know a lot about boxing believe it... while the real boxing fans know that he's very very far of becoming one of them

I'm not on the Canelo band wagon and I don't see what the fuss is about, but this Rhodes guy does a lot of talking and that's a tell in my book. "I'm gonna hit him like this and I'm gonna hit him like that," and the over used by losers "I'm gonna knock him out". Canelo has this guy scared already to where he's boasting about his size, when he has to make weight, and his non existant knock out abilities. Rhodes needs to sell advertisements on the soles of his shoes for this one.
