Why do so many people rank Tyson above Holyfield on ATG list?

Tyson is so overrated it's not even funny. the guy's best win was against leon spinks who already had one foot in retirement. everytime he stepped up to elite competition he got THUMPED - LITERALLY. i mean it wasn't even close. . . Holyfield the southern gentleman made him his personal little *****. haha and good GOD lewis beat his punk ass down so bad . . .

he has to have the shortest "prime" of any boxer according to his nug huggers. according to them, he wasn't even in his prime when he got that ass TWAXED by Busta' Douglas!

im not trying to be hostile towards anyone because I know we all have our favorite boxers who we will tend to be a little biased towards when debating the scope of their achievements and accolades, but I just don't see how anyone could make an argument for Tyson being this fearsome, amazing ATG when he hasn't even beat a legitimate hall of famer? (larry holmes was shot).

      Because of his name value.

Nobody who really knows the sport would do that.

ugly I don't know anyone who places Tyson above Holyfield...you're obviously someone who doesn't seem to think much of Tyson in the first place...

Spinks and Holmes are both HOFers. No one is seriously claiming Tyson to be as great as Ali or Louis. Talent wise he was there, competition wise he was not. But he was still something special and could have been more, but your physical gifts can only take you so far. He had too many demons outside of the ring to utilize his gifts to become even greater.

Who in there right mind would rank Tyson above Holyfield? To me it just sounds like OP is hating on the giant killer.

People may be thinking of the Tyson from 86-Douglas, after which he himself said he was not the same anymore.

He also recently admitted to having breathing problems, I presume mild asthma or such, so did pretty good considering.

But in those years, he sure had great speed and power to have troubled any HW. But maybe his chin and mental weaknesses were his Achilles heel. He maybe had a decent chin, but not a great one.

Maybe like Liston vs Clay (I). If you didn't fight the "bully" scared ****less, you had a shot.

                  Because they are idiots...

Holyfield > Tyson and it's not really that close.
