Pacquiao face after Cotto fight tells you everything.
The bandage around Manny's ears makes people overreact about that fight. IMO Manny's face showed more wear and tear after the Clottey fight.

But faces don't tell anything. Dawson beat Tarver up pretty bad in their first fight, but Tarver's face never shows any damage after any fight.

Pacquiao's face shows a lot of damage even after Clottey landing his 10 punches in their fight, and Clottey is not even a big puncher. Some fighters just show more wear and tear than others.

You can rephrase what you said and say Pacquiao had his roughest fight with Cotto. Mayweather had his roughest fight with Burton, his face showed that. But the fighter that came closest to beating him was Castillo, but that doesn't make Castillo the "toughest" opponent he's faced, Mayweather came out looking clean out of that fight, so does that mean Castillo was an easy fight? No. You have to know what tough/rough means in the first place.

I would say Cotto. I know Marg landed that peach of a body shot, but Cotto landed quite a few good shots on Manny. It was a big surprise for me to see how well Manny took them.
