i think that tarver won the fight, with a clear cut decision. sure it was close, but i don't think any rounds are disputable in the fight, i gave it exactly like harold lederman. i wouldn't have been surprised if it was a draw, but two judges for johsnon?? a bit questionable IMO. but the judges were terrible. one gave the morales barrera 2 fight, to barrera 116-112. the other one i can't remember what fight they judged, but it was pretty bad. a rematch is deserved for tarver

First of all, I thought it was a great fight, with all the lead changes you could hope for. Cong**** to both fighters for *****g on a show worthy of the ticket prices, which can be a rarity in boxing.

As for the outcome on the judges scorecards, I don't see how you could give it to either fighter by more than a round. Depending on what you like to see in a fighter in order to give him the round, this fight could even have been ruled a draw, and I would not argue the decision.

Here's the thing boxing fans, for Tarver, who did land some good shots, and most likely landed the majority of the "flashy" punches, by and large it was more the "pitty pat" punches on his part. I personally don't care for that style, I prefer an honest "bad intensions" hard punch.

The problem for Tarver was, in my opinion, that Johnson has the ability to "pick off" punches with his elbows and with his gloves, and he did it all night. For those of you who have been close enough to the action, you can tell by the sound of a punch if it lands cleanly but also if it is picked off by the defense of the other fighter, especially if it is picked off by the fighters gloves, and if you listened to the punches in this one you would be able to tell that was the case last night.

Johnson may lack in the power department, but he does punch hard, all pros do folks. No, he doesn't have Roy Jones one punch power, but he does have some pop, especially to the body. He is a great body puncher in his own right. More importantly in this one, he applies continuous pressure and is always coming forward as the aggresser, and really dictates the fight. Tarver faded at the end in large part due to Johnson and his body attack, he may have hurt his left hand as he stated, but Johnson hurt his wind with all the body shots.

I had the fight even after 7 with 3 rounds each and one round even. In fact, I had the fight very close with Tarver up by just one round as they went into rounds 10, 11, and 12. In the "Championship Rounds" I had Johnson winning 10 and 11 with a case to be made for either fighter in the 12th and final round. I gave the 12th to Johnson by the narrowest of margins as the last round was very close in my opinion, but Johnson blocked much of what Tarver had to offer and in the last 20 seconds of the fight I had Johnson stealing the round.

I look forward to a REMATCH in this one, in fact I think there may even be a third if they split the first two.

Oh, wait a minute --- hold on ----- after reviewing the scorecards ---- I gave Tarver round 12 not Johnson --- I have the fight a DRAW.....

Let me post this now since I'm short on time, then I'll go back and try and read all the posts on this thread. I had it 115-113 for Tarver...I think that he blew 2 of the championship rd's, just like he did against Jones in their first fight, but did enough earlier on and in the 12th rd. to win the decision. I like both guy's about the same, so it didnt matter to me which on won it; but it bug's me that Johnson did only cause it's just not right, and bad decisions give the sport a bad name. Even Harold Lederman scored it for Tarver! Sso, Tarver will have to do (in the rematch) just like he did with Jones the 2nd time around, although I dont think knocking out Johnson will be easily accomplished.

RE: The power. When asked about the power involved between Roy and Glen, Clinton Woods said it was about even, but that one hit harder to the body, the other hit harder to the head. I'm afraid I can't remember which was round it was though.

I wanted Glen to win so much though in the process, to fight like he did vs Roy. That he didn't so much. He looked tired the entire way and very early compared to vs Roy and vs Roy he threw so much more and wasn't as tired. Guess he was more laid back this time around since he already conquered a great. Although I hate Tarver so much because he talks so much and is a complete idiot(wearing the crown was the icing on the cake), I will have to say I feel he was robbed. Was a close fight though the majority of every round I saw Tarver winning it more minus about 2 or 3. I'm happy for Glen though do feel they need a rematch because it wasn't a sealed win and I think he knows it.
