why do Lower division fighters have to be as heavy when moving up to face bigger guys

when they want to face a bigger guy in another weight class, they will go up and potentially ruin there chances of properly performing by gaining too much muscle risking a lack of stamina, speed and pop,
instead of taking the robinson route i.e heavyweight route, and just getting at your comfortable weight and using your skills to win over the heavier man

    skills > size

anyone wanna share some fights where the smaller, lighter man beats the much bigger, heavier man?

    excluding robinson and heavyweight fights

There needs to be parity in weight in order that the bout be sanctioned under the rules of all the governing bodies.

          Pacquiao vs. Margarito.

Catchweight was at 150, yet Pac came in under the welterweight limit at 144.5, and was outweighed by 17lbs in the ring against Marg.

I do agree with skills > size, but maybe the smaller fighters don't want to be too small against the bigger guy.

Small build may not be able to deal with the punches at a higher weight similarly a small build may not be able to deter someone in a higher weight class with their punch power.

the heavyweights are the real fighters it seems

im not suggesting something ridiculous like coming in at welterweight while fighting a heavyweight

i mean when you jump up one or two classes, no need to come at that classes or catchweight limit, they should be more confident in their skills
There is no upper weight cap for the heavyweight division so its actually very rare to see two heavyweights fighting at the same weight. That does not make them the real fighters.
Fighting two divisions up without making that weight or agreeing a catch weight is not an option a boxer has any choice over it has nothing to do with confidence. Although it could happen in unlicensed boxing the disparity in skill levels would need to be large otherwise the smaller guy would always lose and likely get hurt, boxing isn't a game that why they have these rules.

                  you kidding right?

ever heard of the prize fighter Daniel Mendoza, who was the only middleweight to ever win the HW crown. the guy with the long hair?

I mean the guys I have listed are all naturally smaller and shorter who were able to overcome much heavier guys.

you want single fights where you take a close look at the weight-ins . LMFO

                  ok here we go:

you do know Sam Landsford hasnt started as a heavyweight, right? he stood 5 ft 6 in and something..........

1906-04-26 Sam(156lbs) fought Jack Johnson(185) Ok he was defeated, but ask Jack about this tough son of a b1tch and why he or other champions didnt want to face him.

heres and example: 1910-04-14 Sam(166) beat Jim Barry (196) by knockout.

I could do that for every guy Ive listed but it takes to long.

another example is roy jones, but he was carring lotta new weight for his heavyweight debut. maybe this ***ed him up after he lost all his weight again for a 175 bout.
