There's plenty of talented up-and-comers in the HW Division

I've been seeing a lot of excellent performances by up-and-coming HWs in recent weeks.

Yesterday, Mike Perez (16-0) was very impressive, stopping two of his three opponents in round one and dominating the third, winning Prizefighter.

Kubrat Pulev (12-0) kept on winning, stopping Derric Rossy in round 5.

Edmund Gerber (15-0) easily KOed Carl Baker in round 1 with a nice punch.

Some days ago, David Price (10-0) KOed American Rafael Butler in round 1 with a powerful straight right.

A few weeks ago, Robert Helenius (15-0) KOed Sam Peter.

And there are other good ones coming up like Denis Boytsov, Vyacheslav Glazkov, Derek Chisora, Tyson Fury, and Ondrej Pala.

Some people whine and complain about the "state of the heavyweight division" but in reality, there is a LOT of talent there.

However, there is indeed a SERIOUS LACK OF AMERICAN TALENT in the heavyweight division - the best American heavyweight is probably the talented but undersized Eddie Chambers, who really should be a cruiserweight.

But why does it matter so much if the fighters are American or not? Boxing is an international sport nowadays, and the internet enables us to easily follow the sport anywhere in the world.

Yes, he's another one with very good potential. Here's some information about Negron:

Pulev made some mistakes and got hit a few times, but it was good to see he was more aggressive and went for the KO from the start of the fight.

            thanks for the video

Im a big fan of Pulev, but he looks sloppy and slow. He needs to train his condition. hes at his heaviest weight of his pro career.

he got caught by Rossies right hand, he should keep his hands up....hes way to lazy

            stoppage was also bull****.

hopefully they stop putting him in 8 rounders and wasting his talent.

            oh yeah

            WAR PULEV

Yes. He's very talented, but he needs to get back to his ideal weight of 235-240 pounds.

                Here's my critique of Pulev:

Pros- He's technically sound, has good footwork, has good range and decent power; paces himself

Cons- He's sometimes too nonchalant and passive and is a slow starter

Btw, Rossy didn't look like he came to fight and looked like he was just there for the payday. On paper he (Rossy) looked like a good opponet but he failed to display his 'contender status.'

I can't add to your reputation any more than I have, but great post.

In a couple of years time the HW division should be far more competitive than it is today. When the Klitschko's and Haye retire there should be a number of budding, young, heavyweights ready to fill their spots. I can foresee some great fights already.

From a British perspective, Helenius vs the winner of Chisora - Fury, would be very fun to watch.
