You guys are acting like everyone in boxing is dying....

To be honest, I seen MORE deaths on the street of my boxing gym than there has been in boxing in the past 25 years....

I did a research paper for college about the damages that boxers suffer. I concluded my thesis statement by saying that although the best thing for boxers was to modify the sport, I felt the sport would suffer and I would not enjoy it as much. This was an example of what is and what should be. Still, I don't want anymore modifications. This is just the impression of the moment talking when posters say that about headgear and bigger gloves. This is not the first death in the sport and likely won't be the last. However, after the Mancini-Kim fight, people have been more aware of tragedies in boxing. That was an eye opener.

        I know, as a fighter, I don't like this...

If a fighter wants to be safe, DON'T GO PRO!

The amateurs is there for a reason...

Boxing is a warrior sport, it would be SO ****sexual with headgear...

I want to be a professional boxer in a few years, I know all the risks, I know I can DIE in there...

        but...

I'd rather die in there than die on the streets.

thats the thing about boxing...you know you can die in the ring. its always ppl who don't box or who aren't boxing fans that try to **** with the **** to make it safer. headgear and big gloves would un-make me a fan of boxing. I've been watching this **** since 3rd grade and to see something like dat would be a disgrace. A BOXER KNOWS THE RISK OF GETTING INTO THE RING...THEY CHOOSE TO PUT THEIR LIFE ON THE LINE...NOT THE FANS!(not directed to you sureno or anyone just adding to the knowing about the risks idea of yours)

Let's face it. Most true boxing fans love a slugfest and love Ko's. That's the main reason why Pro Boxing is so popular while amateur is for the purists or for those who are against any type of violence. Headgear and bigger gloves would destroy Pro Boxing as we know it and there would only be amateurs on two levels. Amateurs who fight for medals and older "amateurs" fighting for money. I don't think that is appealing. I agree that extensive medical tests are vital, but these headgear thing does not sound good to me, as a fan.

              If you want to box...

              Here are 2 options...

              Professional:

              -Fame and Glory (if successful)
              -Enter at your own risk
-No *******, no headgear, no big gloves
              -BIG MONEY (if successful)

              Amateurs:

              -Safe
              -Headgear
              -Not much of a risk

If you want headgear, GO TO AMATEURS!!!!!!

Professional is not for bitches !

WTF would be the difference between amateurs and professionals if they made you wear headgear?

              NOTHING.....
