Khan-Bradley Breakdown could lead to bidding war for Zabs IBF Belt

    Three-belt unification bout deadline passes

With the passing of Wednesday’s contract signing deadline for WBC and WBO light-welterweight champion Timothy Bradley to agree to a unification with WBA belt holder Amir Khan, it looks like the 140lb fight that seemed a certainty to be signed and sealed for July, may now never happen at all.

Bradley, 27, was offered his biggest payday to date in the deal from his promoter Gary Shaw, but was reportedly unhappy with the offer and was holding out for more. The $1.3million dollar deal has now apparently been passed up leaving both fighters without an opponent for their respective fights on July 23rd.

Step forward newly crowned IBF champion Zab Judah, the only 140lb fighter left with a title for a unification bout. If both Khan and Bradley have their minds set on unifying the light-welterweight titles, they may now inadvertently be left to fight it out over who gets the right to challenge for Judah’s belt.

That could lead to a bidding war between the two camps, who should have been focusing on meeting each other in the summer. Judah’s IBF title may now become hot property for both fighters, as they look to secure an opponent and concentrate on getting in shape for the potential bout.
