    Because the rate their database evolves creates a lot of changes, making it an ongoing effort.

    It doesn't hurt anything to have them there, and no one, including the administrators of the site, have ever asserted that their rankings hold any degree of credibility.

    The way that fighters from different weight classes juxtapose between weight classes clearly shows that it's a formula that determines the rankings. Remember how long Shane Mosley was rated # 1 at 154 after Winky moved up despite Shane fighting at Welterweight?

        no, i understand that it is a formula, but i am really interested, (see my first post) on how boxrec's formula works. i cant understand a system that has shane mosley above the undisputed champ at welterwieght, and has chris byrd in the top 10 p4p

          Send them an email if you're that interested.

          I'd be interested in seeing what response you get. I'm sure they'd hit you back with a reply.

            Thank you.....

            Stop bitching!

            The ratings keep changing is because it is a dynamic database...
            And your own ratings are influenced by those who you have already fought and who they fought and so on...

            So if Fighter A beats Fighter B today...
            Later Fighter B beats Fighter C and Fighter D..
            Fighter A's rating will go up respectively..

            Same vise versa...

              Their rankings are computerized and go on a points system. There is no human intervention of the rankings or ratings. They are run on points and update automatically as results are entered.

                  ====================

                  The software is designed by humans and obviously very flawed as we look at all their ratings. When Bowe announced his comeback he was immediately ranked in the top 10 heavies until they made an adjustment. Ratings will always be controversial. Currently they have Rahman and Ruiz ranked over Vitali in the heavy ratings. Now c'mon, we weren't dropped off the turnip truck!
