Mayweather dislodged from Ring Mag's rankings

After being inactive in boxing for a year, undefeated and controversial boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. lost his ranking in The Ring Magazine’s pound-for-pound list.

Based on the magazine's policies, ranking pound-for-pound boxers who fail to fight for a whole year are automatically removed from the list.

Mayweather's last fight was against Shane Mosley on May 1, 2010.

Ring Magazine's editor-in-chief Nigel Collins said Mayweather's exclusion from the rankings is not related to the boxer's ability.

“The removal of Floyd Mayweather, who has not fought since May 1, 2010, and has no bout currently scheduled, is not a reflection of Mayweather’s ability,” said Collins in RingTV.com.

The uncertainty in Mayweather’s plans to resume his boxing career was also factored in his exclusion from the rankings.

“To keep him ranked at the expense of active fighters is unfair, especially as we have no idea if or when Mayweather will fight again,” Collins said.

Collins said Mayweather's status in the magazine's rankings will be reviewed if he fights again.

“If he returns to action, Mayweather’s status will be re-evaluated,” he said.

I think so too. You can't call yourself the top guy if you don't fight anyone.

I used to be a big Floyd fan but got bored with his ****. The guy is a great boxer but is not prepared to fight anyone to prove it.

We can all talk **** but not back up our boasts.

            The ring is opinion.

You can tell who the REAL #1 guy is by the influence he has on the sport.

There are a lot more fighters imitating the Mayweather style than Manny's.

Defense is the hardest thing to learn about boxing...it takes brains and discipline to master.

Boxing is not a science until you can 'hit and not be hit'...

Floyd's influence on boxing is greater than Manny's...oh yes it is.
