  • Comments Thread For: Salido Says July Defense Planned, Juanma Rematch Later

Former World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez (30-1, 27 KOs) may have been wishing for the date of August 20 to come through, but it's not very likely to happen. Orlando Salido (35-11-2, 23 KOs), who stopped the 30-year-old Lopez in eight rounds on April 16 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, says he is still planning to make the first defense of his title on a July date in Sonora, Mexico and then face Juanma in September or later.

nah juanma won't get any respect for doing that. he needs to rematch salido first then move up. he needs to avenge his loss and not run like a bytch, from the guy that gave him his first loss.(amir con, victor ortiz)

oh don't worry salido is aware of this and he will give a rematch to juanma, but he wants do defend his title first in front of his people. nothing wrong with that.

When Salido and Lopez do rematch, you'll realize why Khan and Ortiz' management (because I do believe Victor wanted the fight) made the decision to not engage in rematches.

I said it before the first fight and I'll say it again, Salido knows how to fight southpaws and his bodywork is excellent. Lopez is still wondering why he was so slow, but against Salido we saw the slowest Gamboa we've seen to date because of the body work and style. Salido's going to abuse Lopez again.

Salido deserves the right to defend his title before he fights Juan Ma Lopez again, Why the rush? Salido brutalized Juan Ma Lopez the first time and he will do it again!

I agree. Salido fought like he knows how to fight against Lopez's style like he figured him out. Wasn't no luck involved in that match up. Salido was dinging Lopez up left and right and if the ref didn't stop it, Lopez would have been on his face or out the ropes. I got Salido in the rematch, stoppage or KO in round 7.
