Why Mosley has a chance to beat Pacquiao

First of all lets look at his six defeats... Vernon Forrest twice, Winky Wright twice, Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather Junior.

Lets start with Forrest, a very big guy for 147 lbs, polar opposite of Manny and has size and reach and a nice jab to be able to keep Mosley out of range.

Winky Wright also has a much bigger physical stature than Manny and even Mosley himself and once again, an excellent jab. In case you don't box yourself, having a hard, stiff jab is very hard to counter and for you to set up your punches yourself.

Miguel Cotto, another guy who has that strong, stiff jab, I am of the firm belief that this is Mosley's weakness. Even in the second De La Hoya fight I believe he lost mainly due to Oscar's jab and defense was much improved from the first fight. Anyway, Cotto another guy who has the jab and surprisingly, Cotto has good upper body movement (i suppose you could call it good defense) at slipping punches.

Floyd Mayweather is not known for his jab but only because he is so well rounded and one of the best fighters of all time but his jab is also an excellent one which comes at such a blinding speed it's hard to set up your own punches, I don't know If I've ever seen Shane so perplexed in the ring before as in the case in their fight. To go with that jab is some more extraordinarily defense.

All of the above have more size and reach than Pacquiao and more important of all, a much stronger, faster jab than him too. Pacquiao tends to use his little straight left as his jabbing weapon but his own, right hand jabs do not carry the same impact of all the aboves. So it's all very well that this can stop Mosley coming forward, but what can Mosley do to beat Pacquiao himself? Mosley has one punch knock out power, all of the above got hit and hit hard at least one stage or another. Forrest and Winky were big enough to shake them off, Cotto was in his prime and fought the fight of his life but even still he got hit hard in stages and we all saw what happened to Mayweather in that second round.

The Sergio Mora fight? (draw) Not completely irrelevant but I think you can put it to one side when picking a winner in this fight, Pacquiao does simply not have the size dimensions of Mora nor the style.

Shane wouldn't have been picked as an opponent if he had anything left. He's shot and hasn't won a fight in two and a half years. Reason all you want, but this is the same deal as Margarito.

Don't forget Bob Arum and Top Rank picked Mosley to lose to Margarito too.

Pacquiao isn't Margarito, and Shane isn't Shane anymore.

I agree with tour assessment...I will take it a step further; i don't believe shane lost the fight with cotto either...draw at worst.. How would pac do against the fighters that shane lost to????? hmm...another perceived notion is that shane will gas but let me ask someone to name the fights in which he gassed out,,,,people can only point to his fight with floyd..... pac is going to sleep may 7

There's certainly a possibility of Mosley catching and knocking Pacquiao out. He'll always have a punch, until he hangs them up.

As for Shane's losses matching up against Pacquiao, assuming they're all the same weight, it's 50/50. Manny already beat Cotto, and I think he'd beat Forrest, based on the fact that the brawling, unorthodox Mayorga beat him twice and he has no speed or technique to speak of. Wright embarrasses Pacquiao in all likelihood, but the Clottey fight could raise some doubts. And Mayweather's a toss-up.

The fight Saturday could go either way. Pacquiao could just blind and batter Mosley with superior speed, or Mosley could catch him and use his physical size and strategic clinching to wear Pac down. I'm leaning towards the former but stranger things have happened in this sport.

I think Shane has great chance because he fights going backwards. He's a good counter puncher and has a great jab with power in both hands. He's also good at slowing down fighters and he clinches when needed.Manny is a good fighter but I think he has one style only. What happens if he gets hurt from a body shot and he cant move the way he normally does?

I know Mosley would not have been picked if he had a chance of winning but they forgot Mosley can never be written down.

I'm picking Pacquiao in this one. I think Mosley will have his moments and do better than he did against Mayweather but in the later rounds Pacquiao will shine.

I just don't give Mosley a chance in this one. I know some will disagree, but just feel no way is he winning.
