The major contribution made by Americans in WWII was in the Pacific against the Japanese. They didn't selflessly come to anyone's rescue but entered the war in self-defence after Pearl Harbour. The Soviets are the guys without whom all would have been lost. Britain was the country that entered the war to protect other countries.
