there is no point in byrd being able to run much faster anyway, because his defence is very good as it is, the only thing that would make chris bryd have a better defence than he already does, is if he grew wings, and he could fly all over the ring

it's a diffecult one to say, it's two completly different styles of fighters, i would say bryd was faster, but it dosn't make any difference anyway, larry's best weapon was his jab, and byrds is being elusive, making people miss, in with a quick combo, and get the hell out of there

Actually huthut85 chris byrd is only 6 foot so he is only half an inch taller tham prime tyson and byrds reach is only 73(the same as joe fraziers) where mikes reach is 71 and byrd weighs about 210 pounds and prime tyson weighed in at 217 pounds so the difference is neglible . Look up byrds stats on boxrec if you dont believe me .

yep, sorry i thought Byrd was 6'1 1/2, he used to be listed as that. But Mike is not 5'11 1/2, he's 5'9 1/2 anyway, so my basic point remains. And although Byrd weighs in at 210, he's natrually lighter than that, he's basically a cruiserweight or Light-heavyweight beefed up to heavyweight for money reasons.

I think a prime "Quick" Tillis could certainly dance as fast on his toes as Marvis Frazier...

huthut85 mike is so 5'11 and a half before the tyson biggs fight in 87 there was all this speculation about mikes height and mike decided to let hbo officially measure him to end all the speculation about his height and mike was found to be exactly 5' 11 and a half . Watch mikes fight with 5'11 buster mathis jr and you will see mike is taller than mathis jr and so what if byrd is naturally lighter than tyson , if byrds natural weight is 180 pounds and byrd bulked up 30 pounds to 210 well the extra 30 pounds he added to his frame will slow him down so I think the natural weight comparison to tyson is irrelevant .

hahahaha. I just don't understand this thread. What is the obsession with foot movement. Every fighter has their own style they adapt to best suit their mechanics. Byrd is quick frankly b/c he has to. Larry Holmes pumped his jab w/ effectiveness and really only used his feet to give his opponents a different look. I feel he fires his jab w/ more accuracy and authority when he's moving at his customary flat footed pace and others lik Tyson and the like move flat footed to maximize their vaunted punching power.
