There were a few mouth-watering fights that were talked about but didn't happen due to the promoters wanting the fighters to achieve more first so that the fights would carry more hype due to the fighters being more well-known by then. But most of these fighters were probably at their most impressive physically in their fresher days and the fights themselves would of been more exciting had they just happened.
These are fights that I believe would of set the boxing world alight:
1988 - Michael Nunn Vs. Nigel Benn (IBF 160 title, but who cares?)
1991 - Chris Eubank Vs. Roy Jones (WBO 160 title, but who cares?)
1995 - Marco Antonio Barrera Vs. Naseem Hamed (WBO 118, who cares?)
Benn was much faster back then and very exciting, Nunn was the fastest fighter around at that time. Eubank was incredible Pre-Watson and could of been fighter of the decade. Hamed was the hottest thing around in 1994/95 with his combinations. Benn and Jones had 100% KO ratios.
What others can you think of?

) Jones felt he could out-work Eubank maybe?
