Is welterweight a crappy division? Or pac n floyd that good?

At the time floyd came back and pac entered the ww division the top 5 mosley, margarito, cotto, clottey, n berto. It was considered the deepest division in boxing.

Looking back on it now and floyd/pac hate aside...was welter actually weak? Or are floyd n pac just cut that far above the rest?

It's a crappy division, nothing to do with Mayweather or Pacquiao. You could find better challenges south of 147.

It was steaming hot a few years ago, but has since fizzled. You can look at my sig and see the guys that took rose to the challenge and made some great fights. Then you can see the one that cowered away from it all.

Mayweather and Pacquiao are just that good. They are the best fighters of this generation, and their dominance should in no way make people think the divisions they fight in are bad.

Right now it's ehhh, but in a year or 2 it could look like this:

              Timothy Bradley
              Marcos Maidana
              Amir Khan
              Victor Ortiz
              Manny Pacquiao
              Floyd Mayweather
              Kell Brook
              Robert Guerrero
              Devon Alexander
              Paulie Malignaggi
              Miguel Cotto (dark horse)
              Shane Mosley (dark horse)
              Andre Berto

Not too bad if you ask me.

No, it's a pretty crappy division. Is not deep at all. It's like 3 deep right now and one of the 3 is in a big hiatus, another one of the 3 only has ONE good win at WW(his last fight which was the best of his career) and then after there is a huge drop off.

                  It just a crappy division.

If both Floyd and Pac retire today, Ortiz will be the best fighter in the division FFS's. And, then who? Berto? Senchenko? Zaveck? Malignaggi? Jones? Mosley? In a couple years it could be OK division. But, maybe it won't I don't know.

It hasn't been the deepest division in boxing for over 10 years. It was solid a few years ago. And, maybe one of the deepest. But, it's hasn't been the deepest division in boxing for quite sometime.
