i really like both guys - lacy - how can't you like him w/ his fervor for getting the big fights already and concussive power. taylor is my pick though. outside of his very stated arsenal - hes just an awesome person it seems like and EXACTLY what this sport needs. like scap - i bust blanks just at the thought of it, kinda like i used to for my now defunct cotto/bojado future show down. i see lacy taking the fight to taylor and it being almost too close for comfort for taylor. someone alluded to "if taylor was buzzed by hopkins, then lacy's gonna KTFO!" - that couldn't be more separated from the truth, lacy does not have hopkins style technique so he'll have a hell of a time trying to find taylor w/ something that has pop to it. i like taylor in this very competitive fight - and the fans would win regardless of outcome if these two guys go at it.

Taylor is a more skilled boxer than Lacy, but Lacy has shown a lot more patience as of late and swings freely less often.

I can see Jermain keeping Jeff at the end of his jab for the first few rounds of the fight. I can also see his superior handspeeed bothering Lacy for a good portion of the fight.

Things would change in the later portions of the fight though. Lacy is by far the biggest puncher that Taylor would/will have faced and he brings a lot of pressure for 12 rounds. NOTHING that Taylor is going to hit Lacy with will hurt him. If Hopkins can wear down Taylor and hurt him in the later parts of the fight then so can Lacy.

By the 8th or 9th round, Lacy starts to get to Taylor a bit more often with his power shots...and he lands a bomb somewhere in the 10th or 11th that badly hurts Taylor. Lacy is a ****ing pitbull when he has his man hurt.

Lacy TKO11 Taylor with Taylor ahead on the cards at the time of the stoppage.

Taylor would have to fight an excellent fight (unlike his performance against Hopkins) to beat Lacy. He could certainly do it, with his handspeed and superior skills, but this fight carries a completely different dynamic.

William Joppy couldn't hit Taylor with anything significant, why would Lacy. IMO, Joppy is far superior to Lacy in terms of boxing skills, I don't see how Lacy is going to ko Taylor.
And you can't predict the outcome of Taylor vs. Lacy based on his performance against Hopkins. B-Hop has tons of experience, height, reach, and moves very well on his feet when he wants to. He's a completely different fighter than Lacy is.

Taylor doesn't like pressure & that's what Lacy brings from round one till 12. Hopkins proved that had he started earlier he might've KO'ed Taylor. Styles make fights & Lacy's would give Taylor ALOT of trouble because not only does he put pressure on you to make it a dog fight, he's bringing alot more power to the table than Hopkins which means trouble for him. Taylor still is green & besides Hopkins he hasn't had a real tough test. Lacy has had better comp than Taylor besides of Hopkins & would wear Taylor down; especially if he's not prepared for a war that Lacy would bring.

But that's just what I'm getting at. Joppy is an experienced fighter with good speed. If Lacy could hit Taylor, shouldn't Joppy have been able to? Now, dodn't get me wrong, I still think Lacy is a good fighter and will probably prove to be great at some point, and I'm not really a Taylor fan, as I agree with you that B-Hop probaly would have got him if he had started earlier, and I believe he will get him in the rematch. Actually, I just wish they would fight, because who knows when the Calzage? fight will come off, if it ever does.

The man (joppy) had been dominated by two elite fighters previous to his encounter with Taylor and had been brutally KOed by Trinidad.

He had no chance in that fight.

Lacy however hits MUCH harder than Joppy, has a will to fight, brings A LOT of effective pressure to the table, and is in the prime of his career. Lacy would get to Taylor later in the fight, the only question is...would he be able to do enough damage to take Taylor out? I don't think Lacy would win if it went to the cards.
